BSNL Marks 80th Independence Day with New Customer-Centric Digital Initiatives

Bengaluru , August 14, 2026: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has extended its warm greetings to customers, citizens, business partners, associates and employees on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, while announcing a range of new customer-focused initiatives and special offers.

Nationwide 4G Expansion

BSNL has further strengthened its mobile network by placing orders for more than 26,300 additional 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) sites for deployment across India.

The expansion is expected to extend BSNL’s 4G presence to more towns, villages and remote areas. The existing 4G network has also undergone extensive optimisation aimed at improving coverage, data speeds, call quality and overall network performance.

The network is built on an indigenous technology platform that is designed to be upgraded to 5G in the future.

Independence Day Special Offers

Re. 1 Freedom 2.0 Offer

As part of its Independence Day celebrations, BSNL has introduced the Re. 1 Freedom 2.0 Offer, allowing new customers to experience its mobile services at an entry price of just Re. 1.

The offer includes:

1 GB data per day

100 SMS per day

Unlimited voice calls

24-day validity

The initiative is aimed at making BSNL’s mobile services more accessible while giving new users an opportunity to experience its network.

Fibre Freedom Plan at ₹1,111

BSNL has also announced the Fibre Freedom Plan, available at a special launch price of ₹1,111 per month.

The plan offers internet speeds of up to 200 Mbps, a monthly data allowance of 5,000 GB and access to more than 25 premium OTT platforms.

The plan combines high-speed broadband and digital entertainment under a single connection, further expanding BSNL’s portfolio of value-oriented broadband services.

Revamped BSNL Selfcare App

BSNL has launched an upgraded version of its BSNL Selfcare New mobile application for Android and iOS users.

The revamped app brings several customer services onto one digital platform, including prepaid recharges, postpaid and landline bill payments, complaint registration and tracking, DND management, payment history and Fibre booking requests.

It also features AI chatbot assistance, voice search, multiple-account management and access to BSNL Entertainment TV.

Free Entertainment TV for BSNL Mobile Users

BSNL mobile subscribers can now access BSNL Free Entertainment TV, powered by Tango TV, through the new Selfcare app.

The service provides access to around 500 live television channels, along with on-demand entertainment content, allowing customers to watch a wide range of programmes on their mobile devices.

Satellite Phone Services

BSNL continues to provide Global Satellite Phone Service (GSPS) using satellite connectivity. The service enables voice communication in areas where conventional terrestrial mobile networks may not be available.

The facility is particularly useful in remote and geographically challenging locations, as well as areas where reliable communication is critical.

Extended Validity on ₹2,399 Annual Plan

As a limited-period Independence Day benefit, BSNL is offering an additional 47 days of validity on its ₹2,399 annual prepaid plan.

The plan’s validity will effectively increase from 365 days to 412 days, while customers continue to receive the existing benefits of the annual plan.

BSNL-Polycab Partnership to Boost Indigenous Telecom Manufacturing

BSNL has partnered with Polycab to strengthen domestic telecom manufacturing in line with the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

Under the partnership, Polycab’s Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) facility will manufacture telecom and networking equipment, including cameras, Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) and routers.

The collaboration will also explore a Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) model, aimed at supporting scalable and cost-effective deployment of telecom infrastructure while reducing the need for significant upfront investment.

BSNL said the partnership would contribute to strengthening India’s domestic telecom manufacturing ecosystem and advancing self-reliance in the sector.
