Bengaluru Witnesses Grand Akshaya Tritiya Celebrations at Raghavendra Brindavana

Bengaluru, April 20: The Mruttika Brindavana of Sri Raghavendra Swamy at Jayanagar 5th Block completed 43 years since its consecration, with special religious ceremonies held on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Monday.

The Brindavana, established in 1983 on Vaishakha Shuddha Tritiya, commemorated the milestone under the guidance and blessings of pontiff Subudendra Tirtha of the Nanjanagudu Sri Raghavendra Swamy Math, a lineage rooted in the Dvaita philosophy propounded by Madhvacharya.

The day’s rituals began in the morning with Vayu Stuti recitation and Sri Raghavendra Ashtakshara parayana, followed by Madhu Abhisheka and special Phala Abhisheka. This was followed by a series of ceremonies including Ashtakshara Homa, offering of new vastras to the Brindavana, Pallakki Utsava, Gaja Vahana Utsava, and Rathotsava.

Padapuja and Kanakabhisheka were also performed, culminating in Mahamangalaarati. A key highlight was the sandalwood (gandha) alankara, for which around 12 kg of sandal paste was prepared over 15–20 days and applied to the Brindavana.
Thousands of devotees took part in the celebrations, with annadana organised on a large scale.

Applying sandal paste to the deity and the Brindavana on Akshaya Tritiya is believed to absolve sins and bestow enduring spiritual merit, said senior administrator Raja Vadindra Acharya.

The Maha Bodhi Society Bengaluru has extended a warm invitation to media and press professionals to cover the 2570th Sacred Buddha Jayanti celebrations, which will be organized across Bengaluru and various parts of Karnataka from April 19 to May 1, 2026. The annual observance, marking the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha, is expected to draw devotees, scholars, and peace advocates from across the region.

This year’s programme has been thoughtfully curated to promote the timeless message of peace, compassion, and harmony. A series of spiritual, cultural, and intellectual events will unfold over the two-week period, with key highlights reflecting both traditional reverence and contemporary relevance.

One of the Main Traction is the “Walk for Peace” scheduled on April 25 between 8:45 AM and 10:30 AM. The initiative aims to bring together people from diverse backgrounds in a collective expression of unity and non-violence, echoing the core teachings of Lord Buddha.

On April 26, the celebrations will witness a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Mahabodhi Pali & Research Centre, followed by an interfaith seminar. The event will be led by Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan and is expected to host scholars and religious leaders engaging in meaningful dialogue on spiritual coexistence and shared human values.

The programme will culminate on May 1 with the grand observance of Vesakha Buddha Purnima. The day will feature traditional rituals including puja, guided meditation sessions, and a symbolic lamp offering ceremony. The celebrations will be held in two sessions—morning (10 AM to 4 PM) and evening (6 PM to 7:30 PM)—providing devotees ample opportunity to participate in the sacred proceedings.

The celebrations are not only a religious observance but also a platform to reinforce Buddha’s universal teachings in today’s world. The Maha Bodhi Society has encouraged widespread participation and media coverage to amplify the message of peace and mindful living.

Akshaya Tritiya Celebrations at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Jayanagar

On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, special religious ceremonies and offerings have been organized at the Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Jayanagar 5th Block.

As per the divine guidance of His Holiness Sri Subudhendra Tirtha, the rituals will be conducted under the leadership of the senior administrator of the Mutt, Sri R.K. Vadindra Acharya. The celebrations are scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2026, coinciding with Vaishakha Shukla Paksha Tritiya, traditionally observed as Akshaya Tritiya.

A key highlight of the event will be the complete sandalwood paste (Sri Gandha) alankara offered to the Brindavana of Sri Raghavendra Swamy, along with a series of special sevas and rituals.
