“THE GLOBAL UNPLASTIC DAY” IS BEING HELD AT AIMS INSTITUTES

An international seminar on global ecosystem for a sustainable earth: Celebrating the global UnPlastic Day is being held at AIMS Institutes,

Bangalore on 17th September, 2022. The program is inaugurated by Dr Meka Priyanandan Reddy Chairperson of AIMS Institutes, one of leading higher educational institutions of Bengaluru.

The Keynote address at the seminar is by Mr Erik Solheim , 6th Executive Director of UNEP, New York and State Guest of the Govt. Of India and Govt. Of Karnataka. Other dignitaries attending and speaking at the seminar include Mr Harsha Vardhan IRS, Commissioner GST & Founder Ahimsa, Mr M N Natraj, Regional Director for Southern States, NYKS, Union Ministry of Sports & Youth Govt. Of India, Mr Sailesh Sehgal Founder Youth of India and Co-Founder Youth for Green Hydrogen, Mr Arun Sivag, Founder & Artist Director Global Kulshretha. The Chairperson of AIMS, Dr Meka Priyanandan Reddy is scheduled to receive the award of recognition from Mr Erik Solheim for the efforts put in by the institute in promoting the cause of sustainability and climate issues.

The GRI report on the sustainability initiatives taken up by AIMS Institutes, the first educational institution in India to have undertaken this will also be released. A MOU on joint efforts to campaign for boycott of plastics, combatting climate change and promote a sustainable global ecosystem is being exchanged by AIMS with Youth of India, Ahimsa, Global Kulture and Youth for hydrogen. A tree plantation drive with plantation of fruit trees, part of the 10K tree plantation program of Ahimsa started in the Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru last month is being carried out in AIMS campus at the culmination of the event.

CYBER SECURITY CONVOCATION EVENT BY GRANDSON OF DR. SARVAPALLI RADHAKRISHNA THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF INDIA

Today’s certificate distribution event was addressed by Mr. Subramanya Sharma ( Chairman , Sudeeksha Group ) who is also the Grandson of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishna , The Ex – President of India .

HK Cyber Security Foundation was founded and kick – started in the year 2019 , inaugurated by Former ADGP Shri . Sanjay Sahay IPS along with other dignitaries at The Jain Management Institutions Auditorium .

The objective of this foundation is to educate and train Govt . college and financially challenged students to become cyber security professionals at Zero Cost . Just so that they need not work for any BPOS or as food delivering agents etc , with this as his mission and vision our Founder and President Dr.Harsha , PhD ( Info Sec ) approached the Director of Collegiate Education , requesting the Govt . of Karnataka to nominate a few colleges . The department had suggested a few colleges . Hence HKCS foundation has selected Govt . First Grade College , started training their students with almost 80 % completion of training at zero cost to the students .

It was unfortunate , that during their onset , the pandemic started and all colleges were shut down and they were not having any facilities to take Online Classes . Hence Post pandemic they started recollecting training and interactions with college management and students for the successful conclusion of their course and training . With continuous . efforts from Dr. Harsha and the Management team of HKCS foundation , they were able to successfully conclude with the first batch .

Meanwhile , HKCS Foundation started working on computer Lab renovation of the above – mentioned college , as the lab was not in functioning conditions . consequently , HKCS Foundation came out with the strategy to offer cyber security courses to other institutions where students could afford to pay the course fees . Then they engaged with St.Joseph College and began to offer paid courses , With this small revenue generation , they started supporting Govt . First Grade college further and for the upcoming batch of students . During the pandemic , their parent entity HKIT Security Solutions supported the Foundation Activities without any challenges .

HKIT Security Solutions also approached many of its clients for supporting this initiative and continues to put efforts to date .

With the commitment to charity and to enlighten financially challenged students across Karnataka and India , their journey kick – started with a single dot.Which is expected to spread across Karnataka and other states of India .

“Ed-Tech is a huge target for hackers to steal data”, says CloudSEK

CloudSEK discovered a threat actor selling nearly 500K student records from various popular Indian education platforms.

The samples provided by the threat actor suggest that the leaked data is from the year 2021. 

The leaked information contains the following:

Full name

Telephone number

Email address

Username

Registered state

The Hacker is seeking a one-time sale for the database, the amount is undisclosed. They have been active since August and can be contacted via the forum to conduct the transaction illegally.

Investigative Analysis

The data that has been stolen can be used for advertising and marketing purposes to influence Indian students aged 16-19. Exposed PII could be used to orchestrate social engineering schemes to manipulate the victims, phishing attacks where devices of the victims can be compromised, and the hacker can gain access to other sensitive information and finally, identity thefts where these credentials can be used to perform other malicious activities on the internet.It is also possible that the email addresses and phone numbers belong to the compromised individual’s guardian(s), thereby putting the family at risk.

This Hacker is a new forum user. This has been observed in most high-profile data breaches publicized on the cybercrime forum. Steps to prevent Data Stealing include, identifying loopholes in the website and patch vulnerable and exploitable endpoints, Implementing a strong password policy, employing MFA(multi factor authentication).Mention of the data breach obtained from open source investigation, data leaked from Apni Kaksha.
