Traffic Police, Drivers Unite for Road Safety Awareness in Bengaluru
Bengaluru, January 28, 2026: As part of National Road Safety Month, Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Rajajinagar Branch, organized a Road Safety Awareness Program on January 28, 2026, aimed at promoting safer driving practices and highlighting the importance of good vision for road safety. This initiative is being rolled out across all Vasan Eye Care Hospitals in South India, with all 18 branches in Karnataka actively participating in the month-long campaign.
The program was formally inaugurated by Mrs.Chaitra traffic Police Sub-Inspector Malleswaram Bengaluru.
The event was conducted in association with the Karnataka State Drivers Association, under the leadership of its President, Mr. Somashekar K.and Mr. Suresh Assistant Sub-Inspector Malleswaram.
More than 80 commercial vehicle drivers took part in the awareness session and actively interacted with experts, reflecting their strong commitment to adopting safer driving habits. As part of the awareness activities, a walkathon was organized during which helmets were distributed to riders who were not wearing protective gear. Participants were also advised to strictly follow traffic rules to safeguard their lives and the lives of others on the road.
Addressing the media, Dr. Puttaswamy of Vasan Eye Care Hospital shared key insights on eye health and road safety. He stressed the need for regular eye check-ups for commercial vehicle drivers, explaining that clear and healthy vision is a critical factor in preventing road accidents. Vasan Eye Care Hospital announced that as part of this initiative, free eye screening facilities and road safety awareness activities will continue until February 11, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to public health and safer roads.
பெங்களூரு, ஜனவரி 28, 2026: தேசிய சாலை பாதுகாப்பு மாதத்தை முன்னிட்டு, வாசன் ஐ கேர் மருத்துவமனை, ராஜாஜிநகர் கிளை சார்பில் ஜனவரி 28, 2026 அன்று சாலை பாதுகாப்பு விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்தப்பட்டது. பாதுகாப்பான வாகன ஓட்டத்தை ஊக்குவிப்பதுடன், சாலை பாதுகாப்பில் நல்ல பார்வையின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை எடுத்துரைப்பதே இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியின் நோக்கமாக இருந்தது.
இந்த விழிப்புணர்வு முயற்சி தென் இந்தியா முழுவதிலும் உள்ள வாசன் ஐ கேர் மருத்துவமனைகள் மூலம் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இதில் கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தின் 18 கிளைகளும் இந்த மாதம் முழுவதும் நடைபெறும் இந்தப் பிரச்சாரத்தில் தீவிரமாக பங்கேற்று வருகின்றன.
நிகழ்ச்சியை திருமதி சைத்ரா, போக்குவரத்து காவல் துணை ஆய்வாளர், மல்லேஷ்வரம், பெங்களூரு அவர்கள் துவக்கி வைத்தார். இந்த நிகழ்ச்சி கர்நாடக மாநில ஓட்டுநர் சங்கம் இணைந்து நடத்தப்பட்டது. சங்கத்தின் தலைவர் திரு சோமசேகர் கே. தலைமையில் நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது. இந்நிகழ்வில் திரு சுரேஷ், உதவி துணை ஆய்வாளர், மல்லேஷ்வரம் அவர்களும் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
இந்த விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழ்ச்சியில் 80-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட வணிக வாகன ஓட்டுநர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு, நிபுணர்களுடன் கலந்துரையாடினர். இது பாதுகாப்பான ஓட்டும் பழக்கங்களை ஏற்கும் அவர்களின் உறுதியை வெளிப்படுத்தியது. விழிப்புணர்வு நடவடிக்கைகளின் ஒரு பகுதியாக வாக்தான் (Walkathon) நடத்தப்பட்டது. இதில், ஹெல்மெட் அணியாமல் வாகனம் ஓட்டியவர்களுக்கு ஹெல்மெட்டுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. மேலும், தங்களின் உயிரையும் மற்ற சாலை பயனாளர்களின் உயிரையும் பாதுகாக்க போக்குவரத்து விதிகளை கட்டாயமாக பின்பற்ற வேண்டும் என அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டது.
ஊடகங்களை சந்தித்த வாசன் ஐ கேர் மருத்துவமனையின் டாக்டர் புட்டா சுவாமி, கண் ஆரோக்கியம் மற்றும் சாலை பாதுகாப்பு குறித்த முக்கிய தகவல்களை பகிர்ந்தார். வணிக வாகன ஓட்டுநர்கள் தொடர்ந்து கண் பரிசோதனை செய்துகொள்வது அவசியம் என்றும், தெளிவான மற்றும் ஆரோக்கியமான பார்வை சாலை விபத்துகளைத் தவிர்க்க முக்கிய பங்கு வகிக்கிறது என்றும் அவர் வலியுறுத்தினார்.
இந்த முயற்சியின் ஒரு பகுதியாக, பிப்ரவரி 11, 2026 வரை இலவச கண் பரிசோதனை மற்றும் சாலை பாதுகாப்பு விழிப்புணர்வு சேவைகள் தொடரும் என வாசன் ஐ கேர் மருத்துவமனை அறிவித்தது. இது பொதுச் சுகாதாரம் மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பான சாலைகள் குறித்த அதன் உறுதியை மேலும் வலுப்படுத்துகிறது.

Bengaluru, January 27, 2025: Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, in association with OpenText as the Title Sponsor, announced the 19th edition of OpenText Presents Bengaluru Walkathon at a press conference held today at the Press Club of Bengaluru. The Walkathon will take place on January 31, 2026, at Kittur Rani Chennamma Grounds, Jayanagar.
Recognised as one of Bengaluru’s most prominent inclusive public movements, the Bengaluru Walkathon aims to raise awareness and mobilise collective support for persons with disabilities and individuals from underserved communities.
Addressing the media, Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Founder and Managing Trustee of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, highlighted the growing impact of the Walkathon as a platform for social inclusion and public participation. He was joined by Mr. Manoj Nagpal, Managing Director and Vice President – Professional Services, OpenText India.
A key highlight of the press conference was the unveiling of the official Walkathon T-shirt, symbolising unity, inclusion and collective commitment to the cause.
Held annually in commemoration of World Disability Day (December 3), the Bengaluru Walkathon aligns with the theme “Health for All”, advocating equitable access to healthcare, holistic wellbeing, and inclusive health practices for all sections of society.
Now in its 19th year, the Walkathon continues to champion inclusive healthcare, encourage healthy lifestyles, and strengthen awareness around disability inclusion. By bringing together citizens, corporates, institutions and civil society, the initiative promotes equal opportunities for individuals of all abilities and reinforces the vision of a society where everyone can live with dignity and purpose.

Bengaluru, January 27, 2026: Franklin Templeton India’s nationwide investor education initiative, “Change the Soch – Kanyakumari to Kashmir Drive,” reached Bengaluru as part of its landmark journey aimed at spreading financial literacy and mutual fund awareness across the country.
The first-of-its-kind campaign marks 30 years of Franklin Templeton’s presence in India. The 30-day, over 4,000-kilometre drive, which began at the southern tip of India in Kanyakumari, is covering 21 cities and towns before concluding in Jammu & Kashmir. The initiative focuses on encouraging Indians—particularly women—to move beyond traditional savings and embrace informed investing.
Led by Avinash Satwalekar, President – Franklin Templeton India, the campaign involves direct engagement with communities across urban, semi-urban and rural regions. Through interactive workshops, financial education sessions and community interactions, the drive aims to demystify mutual fund investing and empower individuals to take control of their financial futures.
A key emphasis of the initiative is women’s financial empowerment, recognising their critical role in household and national economic progress. The campaign engages women from diverse backgrounds, including farmers and fishing communities, women involved in agriculture and handloom sectors, entrepreneurs, students, educators, private and government employees, and other working professionals.
Speaking at the Bengaluru leg of the campaign, Avinash Satwalekar said financial literacy among women is fundamental to building resilient households and thriving communities.
“While urban centres have made meaningful progress, lakhs of women across India—especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions—remain underserved when it comes to access to financial knowledge and tools. Through this initiative, we aim to equip women with the confidence and understanding needed to save, invest and adopt digital financial solutions,” he said.
He added that empowering women to make informed financial decisions goes beyond education and is essential for achieving India’s long-term growth ambitions. “This is a vital step towards India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and building a more inclusive and sustainable financial ecosystem,” he noted.
The campaign highlights mutual funds as an effective investment avenue for achieving long-term financial goals, combating inflation, and building wealth. Mutual funds offer diversification, professional fund management, economies of scale and accessibility through low investment amounts, making them suitable for a wide range of investors.
Karnataka continues to show strong growth potential for mutual fund investments. The mutual fund industry’s assets under management (AUM) in the state stand at over ₹5.64 lakh crore, recording a growth of more than 17 percent year-on-year, with key centres including Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Mysuru and Raichur. Franklin Templeton India plans to further expand its distribution network in the state to reach more investors and deepen financial awareness.
Nationally, the Indian mutual fund industry has witnessed significant expansion over the past decade, with AUM growing from ₹12.75 lakh crore in 2015 to ₹80.23 lakh crore as of December 31, 2025, reflecting an annualised growth rate of around 20 percent.
With over 77 years of global investment expertise, Franklin Templeton manages assets worth approximately US$1.68 trillion worldwide and offers a broad range of investment solutions in India. The fund house manages average assets of over ₹1.27 lakh crore across 37 mutual fund schemes. Three of its flagship funds—Franklin India Large Cap Fund, Franklin India Mid Cap Fund and Franklin India Flexi Cap Fund—have completed more than 30 years, while 18 schemes have crossed the 20-year milestone.
