DKMS BMST Foundation India organized a donor registration drive at India’s Largest Community Drawing & Painting Festival

Bengaluru, 8th August 2022: DKMS BMST Foundation India, a non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders, conducted a blood stem cell donor registration drive at Hosachigauru Colorothon, Season 14, India’s Largest Community Drawing & Painting Festival. The foundation aimed to raise awareness on blood stem cell donation and encouraged people to register themselves as a potential lifesaver to help blood cancer and blood disorder patients. Many youngsters including artists came forward to register as a potential stem cell donor. Robo Ganesh an entertainer and actor came forward to register as lifesaver.
Every 5 minutes, someone in India receives the shattering news that they have been diagnosed with blood cancer or blood disorder such as Thalassemia or Aplastic Anemia. Most often a blood stem cell transplant from a matching donor is the only chance at survival for such patients. But, majority of the patients are unable to receive lifesaving stem cell transplant due to the unavailability of a matching blood stem cell donor. With very few individuals signing up as potential blood stem cell donors the probability of finding a matching donor gets difficult. This increases the need for more and more people of Indian ethnicity to register themselves and help save a life.
Patrick Paul, CEO, DKMS BMST Foundation India, said, “For many patients, the search for a matching blood stem cell donor is the beginning of a race against time. Our focus is always on registering as many committed donors as possible. So far, DKMS-BMST has registered over 70,000 potential donors and has helped 66 Indian patients with a second chance at life. But, this is just the beginning!”
Speaking on the drive and the initiative taken by DKMS BMST Foundation India, Dr. Govind Eriat Nair, Consultant Hematology Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital, Bengaluru said, “For a stem cell transplant, unlike a solid organ transplant, an HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) matched donor is required. About only 25%-30% of the times HLA matched donors will be available within the family; however, in the rest, we have to look for a matched “unrelated” donor. Chances of finding a fully matched unrelated donor is one in a million; hence, having a large pool of unrelated donors is required to be able to find a matched donor for a particular patient. Stem cell registries like DKMS-BMST recruits such unrelated voluntary donors and helps thousands of patients who require stem cell transplant.”
One of the artists at Colorothon expressed, “I feel proud that I am given a chance to save someone’s life. Such initiatives reflect our commitment to the betterment of the society. It is the greatest gift one can give to the mankind. The process was very simple wherein you just have to give your cheek swab sample and sign a consent form. I request all the fellow artists and youths to be part of the noble cause.”
Donor’s swab samples are analyzed for HLA and the data is the available for global search for patients in need. Once a donor comes as a match, they are asked to donate their blood stem cells through a process similar to blood platelet donation.
In India, many blood cancer patients are children and young people whose only chance of recovery is a stem cell transplant. Hence, there is a need for increased and continuous awareness amongst the people about blood stem cell donation so more people can register themselves. From time to time, DKMS BMST Foundation India conducts such patient-donor drives across the country to encourage registration and spread awareness.

India’s underlying growth drivers are strong, the economy would grow in the range of 7.4 to 8.2% in FY23: Mr Sanjiv Bajaj, President, CII
Bengaluru, 3rd August, 2022: Stating that putting more money in the pockets of the consumers is of vital importance to revive consumption demand in the economy, Mr Sanjiv Bajaj, President, CII said that the government should contemplate a reduction in the rates of personal income tax in its next push for reform as this would increase disposable incomes and revive the demand cycle. This is the first of the two suggestions offered by President, CII for providing support to economic recovery. Mr Bajaj was addressing the media for the first time at Bangalore after taking over as President CII.
Secondly, Mr Bajaj maintained that India needs to boost its forex reserves to revive the economy especially in view of the capital outflows by foreign institutional investors, prompted by an uncertain global economic environment. For this, the government should work towards inclusion of some of the large market cap companies into the global equity indices like MSCI and FTSE indices; expedite India’s entry into J P Morgan’s Global Emerging-Market Bond Index and Barclays Global Bond Index; and consider bringing out a special issue of India Millennial Bonds like was done in 2008.
Mr Bajaj also delineated short to medium term tools that could be used to catapult India into a high growth orbit. These were bucketed into four categories.
First, the President underscored the importance of expanding the Production Linked Incentive Scheme and bringing more sectors within its ambit, especially those which are labour intensive and also in sectors where our imports are high, but there is a possibility of building a competitive domestic industry. A PLI for electrolysers will help achieve India’s vision of producing 5 million tonnes of Green hydrogen by 2030 and also become an exporter of green hydrogen.
The concept of PLIs should be extended to services sectors in the form of Employment Linked Incentive Schemes (ELIs). To start with CII suggests instituting ELIs in four employment intensive services sectors, with high growth potential – Tourism, Logistics, Retail and Film, Animation and Gaming.
According to Mr Bajaj, the 5-year period of the PLI scheme should be used to mitigate some of these cost disadvantages, so that at the end of the PLIs we have a globally competitive industrial ecosystem.
Second, to bring in speed and transparency in regulatory approvals and bringing down the regulatory and compliance costs, Mr Bajaj mentioned that both the central and state approvals and compliances for new and existing businesses should be brought onto the newly launched National Single Window System (NSWS) portal. Besides, all states should be onboarded under the Gatishakti initiative for better planning and execution of infrastructure projects. Further a provision in the portal for the private sector to provide suggestions on infrastructure gaps, as an end user, could be considered for planning purposes.
Mr Bajaj also eluded to power sector reforms to remove the burden of cross subsidy on industry, and distribution reforms for improving the quality of power available are important. All fuels and electricity duty should be brought under GST to make Input Tax Credit available to industry, stated Mr Bajaj.
The R&D expenditure should be ramped up from 0.7 per cent of GDP. Besides, R & D efforts should be channelised towards industry relevant research and public Private Partnerships in R&D should be promoted, starting with the defence sector. India also needs a new design policy to replace the existing policy which was formulated in 2007, according to Mr Bajaj.
Similarly, Mr Bajaj emphasized that sustainability imperatives get integrated into business and trade for which its manufacturing sector and its infrastructure should be green. India needs sectoral net zero roadmaps, stated Mr Bajaj.
Further, sharing his concern regarding inclusive growth, Mr Bajaj articulated that credit availability is a major constraint to build a strong MSME system. To mitigate the situation, the ECLGS (Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme), which was a major government initiative made during the pandemic to keep MSMEs in business should be made permanent as a government guarantee for MSME loans with the total amount of guaranteed loans at the sanctioned loan amount to MSMEs at the expiry of the current scheme on 31 March 2023.
Third, on the external front, Mr Bajaj maintained that to keep building on last year’s momentum, it is imperative that India’s export effort is led by an Export Mission comprising a National Trade Promotion Council at the centre supported by Councils at the states. These Councils should focus on developing strategies, framing policies, creating infrastructure and skill development. The Council should also be supported by specific organisations – such as overseas trade marketing offices for marketing and brand building, FTA facilitation center and enterprise training centres at industrial hubs. To meet quality requirements, more testing and certification centres at industrial hubs would be very useful.
Besides, reduction of import barriers, moving to a three-tiered tariff structure comprising of lowest or nil slab for inputs or raw materials, 2.5 to 5% for intermediates and final products in the standard slab with exception given to only few products and diversifying the export market is important. Moreover, given India’s strengths in services, these should be given greater importance in our FTA negotiations.
Fourth, the Government should form GST like Councils for consensus building between Centre and states on reforms such as land. In some areas states could be provided fiscal incentives as is being done for power.
While expressing his views on the economy, Mr Bajaj said that the Indian economy is scripting a rebound despite global turbulence and stress. Despite a challenging global backdrop, domestic economic momentum remains strong as mirrored by a slew of macroeconomic high-frequency indicators. The robust GST collections, impressive PMI for both manufacturing and services, as well as high IIP and core sector output, good monsoons and agricultural growth auger well for the economy.
Besides, the rupee, too, despite weakening remains more resilient than the previous crisis period and domestic inflation, though a headwind, remains capped compared to previous crisis period, stated Mr Bajaj.
At the same time, both Central and state capex is rising and tax buoyancy would support growth in FY23. Hence, on balance, CII has retained India’s GDP forecast in a range of 7.4 to 8.2% in FY23.
Expressing his views on the role of industry and CII in taking India to a US$ 40 trillion goal post by 2047, Mr Bajaj said that CII believes that there is a lot that industry and CII could do themselves. Mr Bajaj enunciated that CII has planned several new initiatives in the current year aligned with the current CII theme of Beyond India@75: Growth, Competitiveness, Sustainability and Internationalisation.
For instance, CII will continue to scale up its engagement in skilling and will skill 1.5 lakh youth and help place another 2 lakhs youth; improve manufacturing competitiveness by proposing to build a CoDB Index, and work with the states to strengthen the national single window system. On sustainability, CII would effect simplification of processes push for preparation of sectoral roadmaps for net zero transition for which it would be engaging with the state governments & sectors on developing `Decarbonization Road Map’ for achieving Net Zero by 2070, articulated Mr Bajaj.
For internationalization of the Indian economy, Mr Bajaj added that CII will prioritize both exports and inward and outward investments and use CII’s 8 overseas offices for further deepening and elevating our overseas linkages while on technology, the objective will to facilitate R&D spending of 2% of GDP with a higher proportion coming from industry, said Mr Bajaj.
CII Karnataka has also charted out its theme for the year 2022-23, “India@75: Karnataka – Accelerating Transformation through Innovation & Inclusion” with special thrust and focus on Policy Advocacy, Competitiveness, Inclusiveness & sectoral growth initiatives, concluded Mr Bajaj.
ಕೋವಿಡ್-19 ದೂರದಿಂದಲೇ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಹೊಸ ಯುಗಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಂದಿ ಹಾಡಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಎಂಟರ್ ಪ್ರೈಸ್ ಮೊಬಿಲಿಟಿ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್(ಇಎಂಎಂ) ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿತು. ಉತ್ಪಾದಕ ಕೆಲಸ ಎಂದರೆ ಅದು ಕಛೇರಿಗೆ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲಸಗಾರರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗುವುದೆಂದರೆ ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ ದೂರದ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಿಂದ ಇಂಟರ್ ನೆಟ್ ಲಭ್ಯತೆ ದೊರೆಯುವುದು ಎಂದರ್ಥವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿಶ್ವದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಾರ್ಹ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಐಒಟಿ ಡಿವೈಸ್ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್ ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳ ಪೂರೈಕೆದಾರ ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐ ನೀಡಿರುವ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ವರದಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ 2020 ಮತ್ತು 2021ರ ನಡುವೆ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಅಥವಾ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಭದ್ರತೆಗೆ ಶೇ.57ರಷ್ಟು ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳು ಹೂಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿವೆ. ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆ(ಎಐ), ವೆಬ್3, ಸೈಬರ್ ಸೆಕ್ಯುರಿಟಿ, ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್, ಬ್ಲಾಕ್ಚೈನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಲೌಡ್ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟಿಂಗ್ಗಳು ಬೃಹತ್ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ಟಪ್ಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ಉದ್ಯಮದ ಒಳಗಡೆಯೂ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿವೆ. ಈ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪೂರೈಕೆ ಸರಣಿಯ ಸಮತೋಲನವು ಉದ್ಯಮದ ಮಾಲೀಕರು, ನೀತಿ ನಿರೂಪಕರು ಮತ್ತಿತರೆ ಪಾಲುದಾರರಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಉದ್ಯಮದ ಗುರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಸುಧಾರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಈ ಆಧಾರಪಡುವಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ತೆರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಹಲವಾರು ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳು ಅವರ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶವಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳು ಇಎಂಎಂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಜೀವಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಉದ್ಯೋಗಿಯ ಉತ್ಪಾದಕತೆ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದು ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟ್ ಡೇಟಾ ಸೆಕ್ಯುರಿಟಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟ್ ಡೇಟಾದ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬಳಕೆದಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಡಿವೈಸ್ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಸುಲಭಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಈ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ ಪರಿಣಾಮವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಕಾಸಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಉದ್ಯೋಗದಾತರು ಅವರ ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಉದ್ಯಮದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ವೇರ್ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ಎಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅರ್ಹ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರು ಮತ್ತೊಂದೆಡೆ, ಹೊಸ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಸುಧಾರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೊಸ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನೂ ಬಯಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕೆನಡಾದ ಮಿಸ್ಸಿಸೌಗಾದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಘಟಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಮೊಬಿಲಿಟಿ ಹೂಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ನೆರವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳು ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐ ಅನ್ನು ಅವರ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಯಾಮಗಳ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಗೆ ನಂಬುತ್ತವೆ.
ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐ ಎಂಟರ್ ಪ್ರೈಸ್ ಮೊಬಿಲಿಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಐಒಟಿ(ಇಂಟರ್ ನೆಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಥಿಂಗ್ಸ್) ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ವಸಿದ್ಧವಾದ ಆವಿಷ್ಕಾರಕ ಮತ್ತು ಉದ್ಯಮದ ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿದೆ. ಜಾಗತಿಕವಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಡಿವೈಸ್ಗಳು, ಅಪ್ಲಿಕೇಷನ್ಗಳು, ಕಂಟೆಂಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ಐಒಟಿ ಎಂಡ್ಪಾಯಿಂಟ್ಗಳ ಕಾರ್ಯತಂತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಸನ್ನದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸಲು 17,000ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಂಪನಿಗಳು ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐ ಅನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿವೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಂಪನಿಗಳು ಮೊಬಿಲಿಟಿ ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳ ಬಳಕೆ, ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಳವಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಉಜ್ವಲ ಮನಸ್ಸುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಟೆಕ್ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ಗಳಿಂದ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಹುಡುಕಾಟದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳತ್ತ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವುದೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಪಡೆಯ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನೂ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸಲು ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐ ತನ್ನ ನೆಕ್ಸ್ಟ್ ಜೆನ್ ರೋಡ್ಶೋದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಗೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ. ಈ ವರ್ಚುಯಲ್ ರೋಡ್ಶೋ ಎಸ್ಒಟಿಐನ ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆ ಪಕ್ಷಿನೋಟ ಮತ್ತು ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಹೊಸ ಹಾಗೂ ಇಂಟರ್ನ್ಶಿಪ್ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಜಯನಗರದ ಸುದರ್ಶನ್ ವಿದ್ಯಾಮಂದಿರದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ 300 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನರು ಸರ್ಕೋಮಾ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ನಂತರದ ಜೀವನಶೈಲಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, 30 ಜುಲೈ 2022: ಈ ಸರ್ಕೋಮಾ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ, ಭಾರತದ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳಾದ ಅಪೊಲೊ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳು, ಸರ್ಕೋಮಾ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಲು ‘ವಿನ್ನರ್ಸ್ ಆನ್ ವೀಲ್ಸ್’ ಸೈಕ್ಲಾಥಾನ್ ಅನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿವೆ. ಈ ಉಪಕ್ರಮವು ಉತ್ತಮ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಸಕಾರಾತ್ಮಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ರೋಗಿಯು ಹೇಗೆ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಬಹುದು ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತು ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲಲು, ಜನರು ಅಪೊಲೊದ ಬ್ರಾಂಡ್ ಅಂಬಾಸಿಡರ್ ಆಗಿ ಸೈಕ್ಲಾಥಾನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲು ಸ್ವಯಂಪ್ರೇರಿತರಾದರು. ಸಾರ್ಕೋಮಾ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ರೋಗಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಲು, ನವದೆಹಲಿ, ಹೈದರಾಬಾದ್, ಮುಂಬೈ ಮತ್ತು ಚೆನ್ನೈ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ 5 ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಸೈಕ್ಲೋಥಾನ್ಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಲಯ ಅಪೋಲೋ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳ ಸಿಇಒ ಆಗಿರುವ ಡಾ. ಮನೀಶ್ ಮಟ್ಟು ಅವರು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಕರು, ವೈದ್ಯರು, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಆರ್ತ್ರೋಪೆಡಿಕ್ ಆಂಕೊ-ಸರ್ಜನ್ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಡಾ.ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ್ ಬಿ ಎಸ್, ಸೀನಿಯರ್ ಕನ್ಸಲ್ಟೆಂಟ್ ಡಾ.ಸಿ.ಎನ್.ಪಾಟೀಲ್, ಮೆಡಿಕಲ್ ಆಂಕೊಲಾಜಿಸ್ಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ಅಪೋಲೋ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಜನರಲ್ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜರ್ ಶ್ರೀ.ಗೋಪಿ ಲಾಮಾ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸೈಕ್ಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಸಂಘಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಲೆಗಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳು – ಸುದರ್ಶನ ವಿದ್ಯಾಮಂದಿರ, ಜಯನಗರ ಸಹ ಈ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಸಾರ್ಕೋಮಾವು ಮೃದು ಅಂಗಾಂಶಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ಮೂಳೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರುವ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. ಹದಿಹರೆಯದವರ ಮರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಳೆ ಸಾರ್ಕೋಮಾಗಳು ಮೂರನೇ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸರ್ಕೋಮಾ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ನ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಅಪಾಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ಉಜ್ವಲಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕರ ಜೀವನಶೈಲಿಯ ಅಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸೈಕ್ಲೋಥಾನ್ ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸಲಿದೆ. ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಿಸ್ಮೃತ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಾರ್ಕಿಕತೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ವಿಷಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅಪೋಲೋ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಸೆಂಟರ್ನ ಆರ್ತ್ರೋಪೆಡಿಕ್ ಆಂಕೊ ಸರ್ಜನ್ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಡಾ.ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ್ ಬಿ ಎಸ್ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ, “ಮೂಳೆ ಸಾರ್ಕೋಮಾಗಳು ಅಪರೂಪ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದು ವಯಸ್ಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 1-2 % ರಷ್ಟಾಗಿದರೆ, ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 20 % ಅಥವಾ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಿಪ್ರವಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸುವುದು, ತ್ವರಿತ ಬಹು-ಶಿಸ್ತಿನ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಂಗಾಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವುದು ಅತಿಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂದು, ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಪರಿಣತಿ, ಸಹಾಯಕ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಇದು ಒಬ್ಬರ ಅಂಗವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೇ ಅವರ ಹವ್ಯಾಸ ಅಥವಾ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅವರು ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುವದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪರಿಹಾರವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.” ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಉಪಕ್ರಮದ ಕುರಿತು ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಲಯದ ಅಪೊಲೊ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳ ಸಿಇಒ ಆಗಿರುವ ಡಾ ಮನೀಷ್ ಮಟ್ಟೂ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ, “ಸರ್ಕೋಮಾ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ತಿಂಗಳ ಉಪಕ್ರಮದ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ವಿನ್ನರ್ಸ್ ಆನ್ ವೀಲ್ಸ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅಪೊಲೊ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು-ಶಿಸ್ತಿನ ಆರೈಕೆ ಸೇವೆಗಳ ಅನ್ವಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ “ಸಾರ್ಕೋಮಾ ವಿಜೇತರು” ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಂತ ಕಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಸಶಕ್ತರಾಗಲು ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೈಕಲ್ ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡವು ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿ ದಿನ ಜೀವಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಹಂತವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿಸಲು ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ. ರೋಗಿಗಳು ACC ಯನ್ನು ಸಮಗ್ರ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಆರೈಕೆಗಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಾರ್ಹ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಅದು ನನಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ”. ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಖಾಯಿಲೆಯನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದ ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ್ ತಮ್ಮ ನೋಟವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ, “ನನ್ನ ಕಾಲು ಉಳಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿ 97% ಅಂಕಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತೀರ್ಣನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬೋಧನಾ ವೃತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮರಳಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಇತರ ವಿಜೇತರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸವಾರಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವು ನಮ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿ, ಅಗ್ನಿಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರರಿಂದ ಸಕಾರಾತ್ಮಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ನನಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ಮತ್ತು ಹೌದು, ನಾನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೈಕಲ್ ಸವಾರಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಉತ್ಸುಕನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಮೋಟರ್ಬೈಕ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಜೀವನ ಏನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅನ್ವೇಷಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ”. ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.

Bangalore, 29th July 2022: On the occasion of completing 25 years of critical care unit, Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, organized a press conference to showcase the growth and expansion of the unit, since its inception. The hospital brought in a team of experts including Dr. Sunil Karanth, Chairman, HOD & Consultant – Critical Care Medicine, Manipal Hospitals, Old Airport Road, Dr. Rajesh Mohan Shetty, Lead Consultant – Department of Critical Care Medicine, Chief of Clinical Services, Manipal Hospitals, Whitefield, Dr. Justin A Gopaldas, Consultant – Critical Care Medicine, Manipal Hospitals, Jayanagar, and Dr. Ajith Kumar A K, Senior Consultant & HOD – Critical Care medicine, Manipal Hospital, Sarjapur to talk about the state-of-the-art infrastructure, the advancement of technologies, and the hospital’s ability to deliver clinical excellence in high-end Intensive Care services.
Since 1997, the ICU team of Manipal Hospitals, Old Airport Road, has provided treatment to 35,000 patients with utmost care. The expert team has provided robust care and has handled many critical cases with meticulous planning and execution. As high-end Intensive care services were their focus, they crafted different types of ICUs for patients who undergo kidney, heart, and liver transplants. Patients who suffer from multi-organ dysfunction, severe neuro diseases, and pregnancy-related complications are also treated in high-end digitized ICU with the support of skilled and experienced staff and doctors.
These ICUs provide a range of services including multichannel monitoring, complex modes of mechanical ventilation, different forms of acute dialysis, hemodynamic support and management, high-end neuro-critical care and neuromonitoring, and Extracorporeal services including Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

The ICU has also evolved and adapted to provide outreach services to acutely ill patients. To treat such critically ill patients, the staff must be skilled and experienced. In Manipal Hospitals, the nurses and staff are provided adequate training to treat patients efficiently, leaving no space for errors.
“Manipal ICU is one of the first centers in the country to be recognized for national level training program in critical care medicine. At present, the department caters to over 3,000 patients annually which makes this ICU one of the busiest units in the country. The efforts and dedication put in by our ICU team have resulted in the successful and quick recovery of 5,000 critically ill patients.”
Since its inception, the department and the management had adopted a far-sighted vision of providing better quality care, which is in sync with advanced innovative technologies. Intelligence (AI) in healthcare has transformed the entire operations of the healthcare system, including emergency treatment procedures, techniques used in monitoring patients, and securing accurate data to provide correct diagnosis.

With the increase in critical cases among the younger and older population segments, the demand for ICU rooms has increased exponentially. Lifestyle changes, COVID virus, and severe infections are causing acute illness among the younger population. The demand for ICU admissions reached its peak during the second COVID wave, and the majority of the cases were seen among the younger population. With an increase in demand for ICU rooms, Manipal Hospitals equipped itself with better infrastructure, including rooms, advanced technologies, and a better monitoring system to treat both contagious and deadly diseases.
In Manipal, there are two types of Anterooms used to treat critically ill patients. These are termed Positive and Negative pressure ICU. In the negative pressure ICU or isolation rooms, the air handling unit sucks contaminated air from the room, filters it, and is pushed out into the atmosphere. Patients suffering from COVID or respiratory illnesses are given appropriate medication and care in this room. In the positive pressure ICU, fresh and filtered air from outside is blown into the room. This room is designed to treat post-transplant patients who are under immunosuppressants and need constant monitoring of their vitals to avoid any infection.
Dr. Ajith Kumar A K, Senior Consultant & HOD – Critical Care Medicine, Manipal Hospitals, Sarjapur, said, “The department has always been agile in making decisions when it comes to saving lives. We, at Manipal Hospitals, have gone beyond the walls to shorten the distance to provide advanced care to patients with the help of Airlift ICU and green corridors.
“Airlift transfers require a team that is qualified to enable smooth transfer of patients from one region to another. The plane has a suitable monitoring system to keep a close eye on the patient’s vital signs, such as heart rate, pulse, and oxygen saturation.”
Dr. Rajesh Mohan Shetty, Lead Consultant – Department of Critical Care Medicine, Chief of Clinical Services, Manipal Hospitals, Whitefield said, “The department have an advanced scoring system which is used to evaluate several health parameters of patients. These scoring systems takes into account the physiological scores of the patients into statistical algorithms that provides a single score. These scores help the clinical experts to predict how a patient’s condition will progress or how they will react to certain clinical interventions.”
