Doctors’ Day 2025: IMA Karnataka Honours 14 Distinguished Medical Professionals

Bengaluru, June 30, 2025:
The Indian Medical Association (IMA), the world’s largest voluntary body of modern medicine practitioners, will celebrate Doctors’ Day on July 1 by honoring 14 distinguished doctors from across Karnataka for their exemplary contributions to the medical field and society.

Founded in 1928, the IMA has a nationwide membership of over 4 lakh doctors across 32 state branches, 686 districts, and 1,765 local branches. The Karnataka State Branch alone comprises 180 branches with over 31,000 members.

The association aims to promote medical knowledge, foster professional development, and engage with the community through various initiatives. These include continuous medical education, public health outreach programs such as “IMA Towards Schools,” “IMA Towards Soldiers,” and “IMA Towards Villages,” and the publication of educational handbooks in Kannada to spread awareness about common health issues.

Doctors’ Day is observed annually on July 1 in honor of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned physician, freedom fighter, and the former Chief Minister of West Bengal. A recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Dr. Roy was a personal physician to Mahatma Gandhi and played a pivotal role in shaping post-independence healthcare in India.

As part of this year’s celebrations, IMA Karnataka will recognize 14 doctors who have made significant contributions in their respective regions. Honorees include:

Doctors who brought modern medical care to remote villages like Ronad nearly six decades ago.

Practitioners who managed over 12,000 childbirths, including complex deliveries, in underserved areas such as Lingasugur — often without access to advanced facilities.

Veterans who have served the IMA for over 40 years.

Authors who have published more than 60 books spanning fiction, poetry, travel writing, and public health.

Physicians actively involved in social service and public education on health issues.

ಲಂಡನ್, ಜೂನ್ 25, 2025 — ಭಾರತ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ವೈಭೋಗದ ಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತ, ದಿಗ್ಗಜ ವಿಕೆಟ್ ಕೀಪರ್-ಬ್ಯಾಟ್ಸ್ಮನ್ ಸೈಯದ್ ಕಿರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಅವರ ಆತ್ಮಚರಿತ್ರೆ ‘ಸ್ಟಂಪ್ಡ್: ಲೈಫ್ ಬೀಹೈಂಡ್ ಅಂಡ್ ಬಿಯಾಂಡ್ ಟ್ವೆಂಟಿ ಟು ಯಾರ್ಡ್ಸ್’ ಲಂಡನ್‌ನ ಪ್ಯಾಲೆಸ್ ಆಫ್ ವೆಸ್ಟ್‌ಮಿನ್ಸ್ಟರ್‌ನ ಹೌಸ್ ಆಫ್ ಲಾರ್ಡ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಂಡಿತು.

ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭವು 1983ರ ಜೂನ್ 25ರಂದು ಭಾರತ ತನ್ನ ಮೊದಲ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ವಿಶ್ವಕಪ್ ಜಯಿಸಿದ ದಿವಸದ ನಿಖರದ 42ನೇ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕೋತ್ಸವದಂದು ನೆರವೇರಿತು. ಆ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ವಿಜಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕಿರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಅವರ ಈ ಆತ್ಮಕಥೆಯು ಪೆಂಗ್ವಿನ್ ರ್ಯಾಂಡಂ ಹೌಸ್ ಪ್ರಕಟಣಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದು, ಸಹಲೇಖಕರಾಗಿ ಪೋರ್ಟ್‌ಸ್ಮೌತ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ. ದೇಬಾಶೀಷ್ ಸೇಂಗುಪ್ತಾ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ದಕ್ಷೇಶ್ ಪಠಾಕ್ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ಲಾರ್ಡ್ ಭಿಖು ಪರೇಖ್, “ಒಂದು ಉತ್ತಮ ಪುಸ್ತಕವು ಮಾನವೀಯ ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ನೈತಿಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಜ್ವಲಿಸಬೇಕು. ಕಿರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಅವರು ಕ್ರೀಡಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕೂಡಾ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆ ಮೆರೆದವರು,” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸಿದರು.

ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಪರಿಚಯ ನೀಡಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ದಕ್ಷೇಶ್ ಪಠಾಕ್, “ಇದು ಪ್ರಶಂಸಾಪತ್ರಗಳೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ತೊರೆದು, ವಾಸ್ತವಿಕತೆಯ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದ ಕೃತಿ. ಇದು ಜೀವನದ ಕಷ್ಟದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ದಾರಿ ತೋರುವ ದೀಪಸ್ತಂಭವಾಗಲಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಗಯಾನಾ ಮತ್ತು ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾಗದ ಗೌರವದ ಜನರಲ್ ಸೈಯದ್ ಲುತ್ಫಿ ಹಸನ್, ಕಿರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ‘ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಉನ್ನತ ನೈತಿಕತೆಯ ತಾರಾ’ ಎಂದು ವರ್ಣಿಸಿದರು.

ಭಾರತದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಅನೇಕ ಪಂದ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡಿದ್ದ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್ ಮಾಜಿ ನಾಯಕ ಮೈಕ್ ಬ್ರಿಯಾರ್ಲಿ, “ಅಲೆನ್ ನಾಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ವಸೀಮ್ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನವಾಗಿ ಕಿರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲದ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ವಿಕೆಟ್ ಕೀಪರ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬರು,” ಎಂದು ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದರು.

ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯದ ಸ್ಪಂದನದಿಂದಲೇ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಸೈಯದ್ ಕಿರ್ಮಾಣಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಅದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಬದುಕಿನ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಸಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು. “ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್, ವೆಂಕಟ್ರಾಘವನ್, ಬೆಡಿ, ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ, ಕಪಿಲ್ ದೇವ್, ಸಂಧು ಮುಂತಾದ ದಿಗ್ಗಜ ಬೌಲರ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿಕೆಟ್ ಕೀಪಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಸವಾಲುಗಳಿರುವದಾದರೂ ತೃಪ್ತಿಕರ ಅನುಭವವಾಗಿತ್ತು,” ಎಂದು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು “ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣತೆಯ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ರಾಜಿ ಇಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಯುವತಲೆಮಾರಿಗೆ ಸಂದೇಶ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಅಂತಿಮ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸಿದ ಡಾ. ದೇಬಾಶೀಷ್ ಸೇಂಗುಪ್ತಾ, “ಗೆಲವು ಮಾತ್ರ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಬಾರದು. ಸೋಲಿನಿಂದ ಕಲಿಯುವುದು, ಸಾಧನೆಯ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಆನಂದಿಸುವುದು – ಇದರಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಯಥಾರ್ಥ ಗೆಲುವು ಅಡಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.

Syed Kirmani’s Memoir ‘Stumped’ Launched at House of Lords on Historic Anniversary

London, June 25, 2025 — In a momentous event that echoed the legacy of Indian cricket, the memoir of legendary wicketkeeper-batsman Syed Kirmani, titled “Stumped: Life Behind and Beyond Twenty Two Yards”, was launched at the prestigious House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, London. The occasion coincided with the 42nd anniversary of India’s first-ever Cricket World Cup victory on June 25, 1983 — a landmark moment in Indian sporting history in which Kirmani played a crucial role.

The memoir has been co-authored by Syed Kirmani, Dr. Debashish Sengupta, a professor at the University of Portsmouth, and Dakshesh Pathak, a veteran Indian journalist. The book has been published by Penguin Random House.

Presiding over the launch, Lord Bhikhu Parekh commended the memoir for capturing the essence of human emotion and ethical excellence through powerful anecdotes.
“A meaningful book must inspire through genuine experiences. Kirmani has always embodied the values of humility, integrity, and brilliance — both on and off the field,” said Lord Parekh.



Co-author Dakshesh Pathak, introducing the book, remarked that the team deliberately avoided glorifying records or delving into setbacks.
“Our objective was to present an honest, balanced narrative — one that serves as a metaphorical lighthouse for those navigating the turbulent waters of life. Kirmani’s career was a masterclass in resilience and precision behind the stumps.”



Syed Lutfi Hasan, Honorary Consul General of Guyana and South USA, praised Kirmani as a cricketer who always prioritised values over statistics.
“His unwavering commitment to integrity over mere accolades is what sets him apart,” he said.



Echoing similar sentiments, former England captain Mike Brearley described Kirmani as among the finest wicketkeepers of his era — alongside Alan Knott and Wasim Bari.

In his address, Kirmani shared vivid anecdotes from his illustrious career, reflecting on the challenges and satisfaction of keeping wickets to spin greats like Chandrasekhar, Bedi, Prasanna, and Venkat, as well as pace legends Kapil Dev and Balwinder Sandhu.
“Perfection demands uncompromising dedication,” Kirmani told the audience, while also encouraging younger generations to pursue excellence with discipline and sincerity.



Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Debashish Sengupta emphasized the life lessons drawn from Kirmani’s journey.
“Winning isn’t everything — learning from failure and continuing the pursuit of excellence is what defines a true sportsperson.”

ಲುಲು ಮಾಲ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶರೀಫ್ ಕೊಚ್ಚುಮೋನ್ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ, “ಲಿಟ್ಲ್ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ 2025 ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಒಂದು ಸರಳ ಹಬ್ಬವಲ್ಲ; ಇದು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವ, ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗೆ ಹಕ್ಕು ಕೊಡುವ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗೆ ವೇದಿಕೆ ನೀಡುವ ಒಂದು ಚಲನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರೂಪಾಂತರಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸುವ ಯೋಜನೆಯಿದೆ,” ಎಂದರು.

2026ರಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ವಿಭಾಗಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜನೆಯಾಗಲಿದ್ದು, ಯುವ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲಿದೆ.

ലുലു ഫന്റ്റ്യൂറ ലിറ്റിൽ സ്റ്റാർ 2025: പുതിയ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത് അതിരുകടന്ന കലാപ്രദർശനം

ശനിയാഴ്ച, 28 ജൂൺ 2025, ബെംഗളൂർ – മിൽക്കിമിസ്റ്റ് പ്രസന്റ് ചെയ്തും 91.1 FM റേഡിയോ സിറ്റി റേഡിയോ പങ്കാളിയായും ലുലു ഫന്റ്റ്യൂറ നടത്തിയ “ലിറ്റിൽ സ്റ്റാർ 2025” ടാലന്റ് മത്സരം ഇതുവരെയുള്ളതിൽ വിജയകരമായി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. 8-15 വയസ്സിനുള്ള പ്രതിഭാസമ്പന്നരായ കുട്ടികൾക്കായി ഈ മത്സരം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പല ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സഹഭാഗത്തോടെ ഒരു ദേശീയ പ്രതിഭാപ്രദർശനമായി മാറി. 

യുവ പ്രതിഭകളുടെ ആഘോഷം 
1,000-ലധികം അപേക്ഷകൾ ലഭിച്ച ഈ മത്സരത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ ഗായനം, നൃത്തം, സംഗീതോപകരണങ്ങൾ എന്നീ മൂന്ന് വിഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ യുവാക്കൾ അതിശയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പ്രകടനം നടത്തി. ഒന്നിലധികം ഓഡിഷൻ റൗണ്ടുകളും സെമി-ഫൈനലുകളും കഴിഞ്ഞ് ഗ്രാൻഡ് ഫിനാലിൽ അതുല്യമായ പ്രദർശനം നടന്നു.

“ലിറ്റിൽ സ്റ്റാർ 2025 ഒരു മത്സരമായതിനെ മറികടന്ന് സൃജനശീലം വളർത്തുന്നതിനും ആത്മവിശ്വാസം നേടുന്നതിനും സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾക്ക് ചിറകൊടുക്കുന്നതിനുമുള്ള ഒരു പ്രസ്ഥാനമായി മാറി. കുട്ടികൾക്ക് തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതിഭ പ്രദർശിപ്പിക്കാൻ ഒരു പ്രൊഫഷണൽ പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോം മാത്രമല്ല, കുടുംബങ്ങൾക്കും കലാസ്നേഹികൾക്കും ഇടയിൽ ഒരു കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റി തോന്നലും ഈ ഇവന്റ് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു. ഈ വർഷം ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ട ഉത്സാഹവും പ്രതിബദ്ധതയും ഒരു പുതിയ മാനദണ്ഡം സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ‘ലിറ്റിൽ സ്റ്റാർ 2026’ ഇതിലും വലുതാക്കാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.”
