ಚರಿತ್ರೆ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯವಾಗಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಆಕರ ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗುವುದು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಿಂದ ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯದಿಂದ ಬದುಕಲು ಚರಿತ್ರೆ ಸಾಧನವಾಗಬೇಕೇ ವಿನಃ ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವ ಸಾಧನವಾಗಬಾರದು. ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ವಂಸಕವಾದ ವಿಚಾರಗಳೂ ಇರುತ್ತವೆ, ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯದ ವಿಚಾರಗಳೂ ಇರುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಸಮಾಜ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಸಬೇಕೇ ವಿನಃ ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಸಬಾರದೆಂದು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳ ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರನ್ನು ಪರೋಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಟೀಕಿಸಿದರು. ಸಂಕುಚಿತ ಮತ್ತು ನೇತ್ಯಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನೇ ಮುನ್ನೆಲೆಗೆ ತಂದು ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾವೋದ್ವೇಗವನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡದೆ, ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯದ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನೆಲೆಗೆ ತರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕೈಗಾರಿಕಾ ಮಹಾಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಆರ್. ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಪ್ರತೀವರ್ಷ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ 28 ಕೋಟಿ ಜನ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇವಲ 4,10,000 ವಿದೇಶಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ 319 ಪ್ರವಾಸಿ ತಾಣಗಳಿವೆ. ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಪ್ರವಾಸೋದ್ಯಮ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಪಟ್ಟರು.
ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಕೌತುಕಗಳು ವಿಷಯ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಡಾ ಹಂ.ಗು. ರಾಜೇಶ್ ಅವರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕದಂಬರ ಚಿನ್ನದ ನಾಣ್ಯ ಪದ್ಮಟಂಕಕ್ಕೂ ಮೊದಲು ರೋಮನ್ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಟರ ಚಿನ್ನದ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳು ಚಲಾವಣೆಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದವು. ಅಬ್ರಾಹಂ ಬಿನ್ ಯೀಯೂ ಎಂಬ ಯಹೂದಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿ 12ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಮ್ರದ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆ ತೆರೆದು ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಗುಲಾಮ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಗಳನ್ನು ಗುಲಾಮ ಮುಕ್ತಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೈರೋದ ಗಿನಿಜಾ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಎಸ್.ಕೆ. ಅರುಣಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ತಿರುಚುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಅಸಮಧಾನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಭವ್ಯ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾದ ಸ್ಮಾರಕಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ತುರ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಜೈನ್ ಡೀಮ್ಡ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ನಿಕಾಯದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕಿ ಡಾ. ಆಶಾ ರಾಜೀವ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ವಿಕಾಸ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಟಿ.ಎನ್. ಪ್ರವೀಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್, ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಉದ್ಯಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಜಿ.ಕೆ.ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ, ಜೆ.ಎಸ್.ಎಸ್. ವಿದ್ಯಾಪೀಠದ ಎಸ್.ಜಿ. ಬಿರಾದಾರ್ ಮೊದಲಾದವರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
