ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ನವೆಂಬರ್ 29, 2024: ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಅಲಯನ್ಸ್ (ಡಿಐಎ) ಇಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಜೆ.ಎನ್. ಟಾಟಾ ಆಡಿಟೋರಿಯಂನಲ್ಲಿ `ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಕೇರ್ ಕಾನ್ಫರೆನ್ಸ್ (DEMCON’24)ಗ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿತು. ಈ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನವು `ರೀಚಿಂಗ್ ದಿ ಅನ್ ರೀಚ್ಡ್(ತಲುಪಲಾಗದವರಿಗೆ ತಲುಪುವುದು)’ ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ(ಬುದ್ಧಿಮಾಂದ್ಯತೆ) ಆರೈಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ ಅಂತರ ತುಂಬುವ ಧ್ಯೇಯ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. 2 ದಿನಗಳ ಈ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಮೊದಲ ದಿನದ ಅಧಿವೇಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಪರಿಣಿತರು, ಸಂಶೋಧಕರು, ಆರೋಗ್ಯಸೇವಾ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರು ಮತ್ತು ಆರೈಕೆ ನೀಡುವವರು ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯ ಕುರಿತು ವಿಚಾರ ವಿನಿಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸಿತು. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಜೆ.ಎನ್.ಟಾಟಾ ಆಡಿಟೋರಿಯಂನಲ್ಲಿ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 29ರಿಂದ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 30ರವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಜ್ಞಾನ ಹಂಚಿಕೆ, ಸಹಯೋಗ ಮತ್ತು ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಆರೈಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸುಧಾರಿಸಲು ವೇದಿಕೆ ಒದಗಿಸಿತು. ಈ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನವನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಬಲೀಕರಣ ಸಚಿವಾಲಯ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ನಿಮ್ಹಾನ್ಸ್, ಸೆಂಟರ್ ಫಾರ್ ಬ್ರೈನ್ ರೀಸರ್ಚ್, ಕಾಮನ್ ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ ಫಾರ್ ದಿ ಏಜಿಂಗ್(ಕಾಮನ್ ಏಜ್) ಮತ್ತು ರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಹಾಸ್ಪಿಟಲ್ಸ್ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು ವಿಶ್ವದ 900ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಇದೆ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಸಚಿವರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ದಿನೇಶ್ ಗುಂಡೂರಾವ್ ಅವರು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು, ಅವರು ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾವನ್ನು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಎಂದು ಆದ್ಯತೆಗೊಳಿಸಲು ತಮ್ಮ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರು ಅರಿವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವ, ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಕ ರೋಗಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಕಾಲಿಕ ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರವೇಶದ ಮೂಲಕ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಉಳ್ಳ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಜೀವನದ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಬಹುದು ಎಂದರು.
ಈ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ದಿನೇಶ್ ಗುಂಡೂರಾವ್ ಅವರು, “ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾವನ್ನು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವು ಡಿಐಎ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮ್ಹಾನ್ಸ್ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಈ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನವು ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಆರೈಕೆ ಕುರಿತು ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿನಿಮಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಲಲು ವೇದಿಕೆ ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ನನ್ನದು” ಎಂದರು. ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಎಂಬುದು ಬರೀ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಇಡೀ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರುವ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ವಿಷಯ. ವೃದ್ಧರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿರುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳ ಕೊರತೆ ಇರುವ ಭಾರತದಂಥ ದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಇದೊಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸವಾಲು ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ ಅವರು, ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಸುಧಾರಿತ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಆವಿಷ್ಕಾರಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಪೀಡಿತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ತುರ್ತು ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸುವ ಆಶಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಸುಧಾರಿತ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಡಿಐಎ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಪ್ರಶಂಸನೀಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹೂಡಿಕೆದಾರರನ್ನು ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಗ್ರ ತಂತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಉಪಕ್ರಮ ಶ್ಲಾಘನೀಯ. ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾವನ್ನು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಎಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ, ಇಂಥ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಪೀಡಿತರ ಬಾಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ತರುವ ಆಶಯವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಅಲಯನ್ಸ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ಡಾ.ರಾಧಾ ಎಸ್. ಮೂರ್ತಿ “ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ವಿಷಯವು `ರೀಚಿಂಗ್ ದಿ ಅನ್ ರೀಚ್ಡ್’ ಎಂದಿದ್ದು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 88 ಲಕ್ಷ ಜನರು ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾದಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದು 60 ವರ್ಷ ಮೀರಿದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಶೇ.7.4ರಷ್ಟಿದೆ. ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸೇವೆಯ ಅಂತರ ಬಹಳ ದೊಡ್ದದಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕೇವಲ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಉಳ್ಳ 10ರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು ಮಾತ್ರ ರೋಗಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ, ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಅಥವಾ ಆರೈಕೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಶೇ.45ರಷ್ಟು ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳನ್ನು ತಡ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ತಜ್ಞರು ನಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ. “ಈ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಡಿಐಎ ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ರೂಢಿಗಳ ಕಲಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಂಚಿಕೆಗೆ ವೇದಿಕೆ ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಭರವಸೆ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ” ಎಂದರು. ಗೌರವ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ, ಮಾನವ ವರ್ತನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪೂರಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಜೇಂದರ್ ಕೆ. ಧಾಮಿಜಾ ಅವರು, ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿ ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತಿದೆ. ವೃದ್ಧರ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಧುಮೇಹ, ಅತಿಯಾದ ರಕ್ತದೊತ್ತಡ ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವನಶೈಲಿ ಸಂಬಂಧಿ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಮುಂಬರುವ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಪೀಡಿತರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಬಹುದು ಎಂಬ ಆತಂಕವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲು ತ್ವರಿತ ರೋಗ ಪತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಮಹತ್ವವಾದುದು. ಬಹುತೇಕ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳು ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗದೇ ಉಳಿದುಬಿಡುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ ಅವರು, ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜನಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿಹೇಳಿದರು. ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಪೀಡಿತರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಲು ಪೂರಕವಾಗುವ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಜೊತೆಯಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಬೇಕು. ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೂಡಿಕೆ, ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳ ಲಭ್ಯತೆ, ಜನಜಾಗೃತಿ – ಇವು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿವೆ ಎಂದ ಅವರು, ಸೂಕ್ತ ಮುನ್ನೆಚ್ಚರಿಕಾ ಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಡಿಮೆನ್ಷಿಯಾ ಪೀಡಿತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳ, ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜದ ಹೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಆಶಾಭಾವವನ್ನು ಅವರು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with Amrita University and Thapar Institute for engineering students in mechanical, electrical, electronics and computer science streams. Bengaluru, India, 28 November 2024: Nurse Maria Victoria Juan from Philippines, a Consultant at Philippines Army Health Services and Colonel, Reserve Force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, has been announced as the winner of Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2024 and awarded with INR 2 Crore at a prestigious award ceremony held in Bengaluru, India. The winner was announced by Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, and presented by Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka alongside Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, Shri U. T. Khader, Hon’ble Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Alisha Moopen, Deputy Managing Director – Aster DM Healthcare India and T J Wilson, Executive Director and Group Head – Governance & Corporate Affairs, Aster DM Healthcare. The Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award was launched by Aster DM Healthcare in 2021, with an aim to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of nurses to patients across the world. This system has greatly improved survival rates by enabling rapid evacuation and early treatment of casualties, especially in conflict areas. At the age of 54 years, she joined an intensive 9-month long aeromedical evacuation training program while working full-time as a chief nurse. As a leader who believes in leading from the front, she completed 200-hours of emergency ambulance conduction, 100 hours of clinical duty, 1-mile ocean swim, 3-day jungle survival, helicopter underwater escape and flight medical runs, while having a fear of flying and deepwater swimming. Maria also pioneered environmental health initiatives, integrating vetiver grass technology to combat soil erosion and water pollution. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Maria organized the Endurun Mega Swabbing Center, training troops as medical swabbers and coordinating healthcare professionals. The center conducted nearly 500,000 tests, significantly contributing to the country’s pandemic response.

Celebrating their achievements is a reminder of the immense impact nurses have on individuals, families, and communities everywhere.” The rest of the 9 finalists, Archimedes Motari from Kenya, Johnsy Inni from Papua New Guinea, Laarni Conlu Florencio from USA, Lilian Nuwabaine from Uganda, Nelson Bautista from UAE, Nilima Pradeepkumar Rane from India, Martin Schiavenato from USA, Hoi Shu Yin from Singapore and Sylvia May Hampton from England were also awarded with a monetary prize for their contributions in nursing. These nurses were selected through a stringent review process run by Ernst & Young LLP, a panel of Screening-Jury and the Grand Jury.
