With over 550 registrations, the 1st edition of Pedaluru had a great start. Event day saw the cyclists turn up early in the morning at Kanteerava stadium on Sunday, 9th June. Pedaluru 2024 turned out to be a grand success in that, citizen cyclists from the city for this not-for-profit event which is a 1st step in galvanising cyclists of Bengaluru into a strong community.

City Traffic police Jt. Commissioner Shri. Anucheth was the chief guest for this event.

Pedaluru partner AltMo awarded its 1st corporate award to an MNC that showed commitment to environmental sustainability by creating challenges for employee cycling to work. Shilpi Sahu of Qualcomm was the recipient of the award. Many professionals from other corporates too signed up to promote cycling as a commute option to compete for awards for our next edition in 2025.

GIZ India and CfAM organised this event as part of the 3 main goals to encourage cycling as a sustainable mode of urban commute.

Manjunath Shekar – the Head of sustainable urban mobility program in GiZ said, ‘Bengaluru is the leading city in the country where cycling is supported with such large turnouts. There is a strong recognition of this in MoHUA which is the reason why they readily partnered for Pedaluru 2024. GiZ is committed to supporting our partners in India to add cycling as a practical cycling option, contributing to clean air and sustainable cities.

Sathya Sankaran – the bicycle Mayor of Bengaluru said, ‘More corporates must step up their incentives for cycling in a manner that can be quantifiable and measured for impact. Pedaluru 2025 is going to be bigger with greater corporate adoption measured by their individual impact on encouraging sustainable urban mobility.

Pedaluru is a citizen-driven, not-for-profit event aimed at galvanising the cycling community for a show of strength to broadly achieve 3 main goals:

Plan: Work with the city govt to have cycling be an integral part of our NMT policy, support BMLTA to come into effect and enhance road-share for safe cycling in the city.

Engage: Engage with the cyclists of the city, with citizen groups, civic activists and corporates to adopt cycling as an ideal option for commute. Campaigns through social media and on-ground activations to encourage cycling in the city.

Build: Advocacy and design for better cycling infrastructure, enforce traffic laws for cyclist safety and make Bengaluru the cycling capital of the country. Work closely with govt agencies such as: DULT, BBMP, BMRCL, K-Rail, Bengaluru Smart City etc to achieve above goals.

Pedaluru is supported by the Indo-German Development Cooperation project “Sustainable Urban Mobility: Air Quality, Climate Action, and Accessibility” (SUM-ACA). The project is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the Government of India, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Pedaluru is supported by AltMo. AltMo is a climate action platform for quantifying the impact of climate positive sustainable transport choices. It allows corporations to engage employees to switch their work and end mile commute to sustainable transport and report on their emissions.

Vidyadhan Scholarship for higher education is now open for Tamilnadu and Puducherry students, who passed SSLC in 2024.

Education is the key that unlocks limitless possibilities. Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives (SFPI)’s Sarojini Damodaran Foundation (SDF) is proud to announce the opening of Tamilnadu and Puducherry Vidyadhan Scholarship applications for meritorious students from economically disadvantaged families currently studying in class 11. Students, who have Passed SSLC in 2024, can apply. The Vidyadhan Scholarship Program also provides selected students with support through soft skills training, mentoring, and career counseling to enhance their personal and professional growth. Since its launch of 2016 in Tamil Nadu and 2017 in Puducherry, a total of 1158 students have been awarded the scholarship enabling them to complete a degree of their choice.

For the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Plus 1 program 2024, the scholarship is available for students from economically disadvantaged families with an annual income below Rs. 2 lakhs. Eligible candidates must have successfully passed the SSLC examination in 2024 from Tamil Nadu / Puducherry, scoring over 80% (or 60% for students with disabilities) or 9 CGPA for CBSE students. The selected students will be granted a scholarship amount of Rs 10,000 per year during their 11th and 12th studies. For those who continue to perform well, the scholarship amount for pursuing a degree course will range from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 75,000 per year. கல்வி, வரம்பற்ற சாத்தியங்களை திறக்கும் திறவுகோல் ஆகும். Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives (SFPI) உடைய சரோஜினி தாமோதரன் அறக்கட்டளை (SDF) தற்போது தமிழ்நாடு மற்றும் புதுச்சேரி மாநிலங்களில் 11 ஆம் வகுப்பு படிக்கும் பொருளாதாரத்தில் பின்தங்கிய குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த சிறந்த மாணவர்களுக்கான வித்யாதன் கல்வி உதவித்தொகை விண்ணப்பங்களை வரவேற்பதில் பெருமிதம் கொள்கிறது. 2024 ஆம் ஆண்டு பத்தாம் வகுப்பு பொதுத்தேர்வில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்ற மாணவர்கள் வித்யாதன் கல்வி உதவித்தொகைக்கு விண்ணப்பிக்க முடியும். மேலும் வித்யாதன் உதவித்தொகை திட்டம் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட மாணவர்களுக்கு அவர்களின் தனிப்பட்ட மற்றும் தொழில் வளர்ச்சியை மேம்படுத்த திறன் பயிற்சி வழிகாட்டுதல் மற்றும் உயர்கல்வி படிப்புகளுக்கான ஆலோசனைகள் வழங்குகிறது. 2016 ஆம் ஆண்டு தமிழ்நாடு மற்றும் 2017- ஆம் ஆண்டு புதுச்சேரியில் தொடங்கப்பட்டதிலிருந்து, மொத்தம் 1158 மாணவர்கள் தாங்களின் விருப்பமான பட்டப்படிப்பை முடிக்க வித்யாதன் கல்வி உதவித்தொகை வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Vidyadhan Scholarship for higher education is now open for Karnataka students, who passed SSLC in 2024. Vidyadhan Karnataka Celebrating a decade of supporting bright and deserving students in their academic pursuits.

Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives (SFPI)’s Sarojini Damodaran Foundation (SDF) is proud to announce the opening of Karnataka Vidyadhan Scholarship applications for meritorious students from economically disadvantaged families currently studying in class 11. Students, who have Passed SSLC in 2024, can apply. The Vidyadhan Scholarship Program also provides selected students with support through soft skills training, mentoring, and career counseling to enhance their personal and professional growth. This year is the 10th anniversary of the Vidyadhan Scholarship in Karnataka. Since its launch in 2014, a total of 1552 students have been awarded the scholarship enabling them to complete a degree of their choice.

For the Karnataka PU program 2024, the scholarship is available for students from economically disadvantaged families with an annual income below Rs. 2 lakhs. Eligible candidates must have successfully passed the SSLC examination in 2024 from Karnataka state, scoring over 90% (or 75% for students with disabilities) or obtaining an A+ grade in all subjects. The selected students will be granted a scholarship amount of Rs 10,000 per year during their PUC studies. For those who continue to perform well, the scholarship amount for pursuing a degree course will range from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 75,000 per year. SDF is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 by S.D. Shibulal (Co-Founder & former CEO, Infosys) and Kumari Shibulal (Patron), to provide educational opportunities to students from economically disadvantaged families. Since then, the foundation has expanded its Vidyadhan scholarship program across 17 states/ UTs, including Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nādu, Puducherry, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Odisha, Delhi, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab.
