SUCI(C) party has decided to field candidates in 151 constituencies in 19 states and 3 union territories of the country.

2024 Lok Sabha elections are approaching. The capitalist parties, which are at the revising end of people’s discontent while in power, are coming back to the people with new faces and new guarantees. On the other hand, the SUCI Communist Party, which is organising movements against problems of the toiling people and peasants, is also contesting alone in this election. Our party has decided to field candidates in 151 constituencies in 19 states and 3 union territories of the country. This time in Karnataka, we are contesting in 19 constituencies.

The BJP-led NDA government, which has been ruling the country for the past 10 years, has ruined people’s lives. BJP raised its voice in 2014 on issues like price rise, unemployment and corruption, now it is silent. The much hyped ‘Gujarat Model’ is invisible. Youngsters are going to the warfields of Israel and Russia risking their lives, somehow to get some jobs. Leave about black money or Swiss bank accounts, all efforts are being made by BJP to prevent information about Electoral Bonds in SBI. India ranks abysmal in Global Hunger Index and Human Development Index. Instead of making policy intervention to improve the situation, BJP govt is branding these indeces as false! But Mr. Modi is talking about Viksit Bharat. Since the Congress ruled the country for so many years and ruined the country, they are asking to give one more chance to bring the country on the path of development. Earlier, during the Congress rule, they also used to blame the British in the same way. Yes, Ambanis and Adanis have evolved into the richest capitalists in the world. Express Highways with exorbitant tolls for the luxury cars of such modern billionaires are also built using people’s taxes. This is the development model of BJP!

On the other hand, BJP is looking for various ways like mandir masjid, CAA etc. to polarize people’s votes through divisive issues. To keep the Election Commission under its control, the Appointment of Election Commissioner’s method is also been amended.

People’s voice should be heard in this election against such communal, fascistic and capitalist policies. But INDIA, a lose alliance of various opportunistic regional parties led by the Congress is surely impossible to offer a truely secular, democratic alternative. There is no doubt that it is the Congress that served the country’s capitalists until the BJP grew and came to power. So the two alliances NDA and INDIA are two alternatives of the capitalist class.

But this election is a battle between capitalists and workers, between exploiters and the exploited. The left parties of the country had to build people’s struggles through a common front as an alternative for the exploited working class, the poor peasants of the country. An effective campaign must have been taken to stress that Elections are not the solution for then, but Socialism is the real solution. But the tragedy is that leftist parties like CPI, CPIM Joined the INDIA alliance to garner few MP seats. In such a situation, SUCI Communist Party has decided to contest independently in this election as an alternative to represent the voice of the oppressed people.

To strengthen farmers’ struggles, to fight for workers’ rights, to resist privatisation of essential sectors, to fight against NEP, to save public education, to uphold the interests of youth and women, we appeal the people to elect SUCI (C) candidates. Also, the State committee of the party calls upon the people to vote for honest, pro people candidates other than the three anti-people parties of the state, BJP, Congress and JDS, in constituencies where we are not contesting.

Millets are often referred to as Superfood and its production can be seen as an approach for sustainable agriculture and a healthy world. Multidimensional benefits associated with millets can address the issues related to nutrition security, food systems security, and farmers’ welfare.

Once a common food item on Indian plates, millets hardly find any place as cereals in modern Indian diet now, as rice and wheat have taken over as staple food. However, slowly Millets is now finding place on the dining tables. Millets are superfoods that can potentially provide a solution to several diseases and metabolic disorders. Superfoods are food items that claim to confer health benefits resulting from their exceptional nutrient density. Common millets include pearl millet (bajra), proso millet (barri), sorghum (jawar), finger millet (ragi), barley (jo), oats (jaee) and foxtail millet (kangani).

Millets are food grains having high nutritional features and health benefits and are cultivated with minimal water & inputs. They are cultivated across the country in various agro-ecological regions, having less infestation of pest and diseases and thus can be grown easily as organic crops. Consequent to the initiative of the Government of India, the United Nations has declared the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets (IYOM). This will create both domestic and global demand and enhance exports from India. To give impetus to the export of potential products as well as to remove the bottlenecks in the supply chain of nutri cereals, the Government, through Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has created Nutri Cereals Export Promotion Forum.

Top domain experts from NABARD, NIFTEM-Thanjavur, Nutrihub, LeadsConnect, ITC, GFI, Grafitec to name a few will be sharing their incisive thoughts on the millets sector at that two-day conference where the organisers expect a footfall of close to 5,000 participants, the above statements were released at press club of bangalore by Bhojaraj C N,Honorary Secretary-IMS Foundation

The use of tobacco products, especially cigarettes, has increased among educated people.

The use of tobacco including cigarettes has increased among educated people.  Therefore, along with awareness, sales control measures for tobacco products should be strictly followed.  We have laws relating to the control of tobacco products, which are not being adequately enforced.  Even now smoking continues in some public places.  Direct and indirect advertising.  For example, in movies, the hero of the film smokes a cigarette.  It encourages people to smoke.  Care should be taken not to sell tobacco products to children through shops.

Although tobacco is known to be harmful to health, people continue to use it.  Just as the government has taken measures to ban hookah, many cancer cases can be prevented if the ban on tobacco products is strictly enforced said Dr. Mahantesh Cancer Specialist, Kidwai Memorial Gland Institute.
