Expert Highlights Importance of Early Detection in Oral Cancer

Bengaluru, September 10, 2026: Dr. Nadeem Hoda, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Oncology, delivered an informative talk on “Oral Cancer at a Glance” at The Oxford College of Engineering, Bengaluru, on 9th Wednesday.
The session was organised as part of the ICMR-sponsored workshop “From Code to Clinic: AI-Driven Disease Prediction,” jointly organised by the Departments of MCA and Biotechnology.
Dr. Hoda provided participants with an overview of oral cancer, covering its major risk factors, early warning signs, diagnosis and the importance of timely medical intervention. He emphasised the need for greater awareness and regular screening, particularly among individuals exposed to known risk factors.

The expert also highlighted the growing role of technology and artificial intelligence in healthcare, particularly in disease prediction and early detection. He explained how advances in AI-based approaches could complement clinical expertise and potentially support healthcare professionals in identifying diseases at an earlier stage.
The session provided students and participants with an opportunity to understand oral cancer from both clinical and technological perspectives, linking medical knowledge with emerging innovations in healthcare.
The workshop aimed to encourage interdisciplinary learning and demonstrate how developments in computing, biotechnology and artificial intelligence can contribute to improving disease prediction, diagnosis and patient care.
