Lions Club International District 317F Region V in association with Bengaluru Central University- Department of Commerce and Canara School of Management organised an “Igniting Minds- Job Fair 2018” on 28th December 2018 at 9:00am at Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, Central College Campus. The purpose of this job fair is to support increase in employability among our student community.
The job fair was inaugurated by the Honourable Governor of Karnataka Shri. Vajubhai Vala who delivered an inspiring and motivating speech to the students. Final year students who attended the event came from MCOM, MBA, MFA and MIB post graduate courses in colleges associated with Bengaluru University.
Total of 1582 final year students took the online assessment test out of which 1200 were cleared to go in for interview process with the recruiters. 250 offer letters were handed over to students today on the spot. Due to large number of students who were lined up for interviews with recruiters, they could not complete the full interview process. So students were given alternative dates for the further interviews. Recruiters have committed to informing the organisers on the status of the interview process.
Total of 3701 students of first semester post graduate commerce and management courses attended 2 separate business sessions to get industry exposure and tips on how to equip themselves to face corporate careers. Resources persons from financial and banking services addressed the gathering.
Prof. S Jhaphet Vice Chancellor of Bengaluru Central University said “This is a very good initiative to connect our young students with employers from servicing banking operations, financial services and business management domains. This job fair is exclusively for commerce and management post graduate students. We hope to do more of such wonderful initiatives for other disciplines of the university”.
Lion K Sathyanarayana Raju pmjf shared insights on the community service initiatives done by Lions Club International District 317F. He also shared that it is Lions Clubs International District 317F committed to support youth empower initiatives in collaboration with the Bengaluru Central University.
Prof. M Ramachandra Gowda Registrar of Bengaluru Central University said “This is a no- cost event and was open to all students. Job seekers will have the opportunity to network with over 25 reputed employers seeking individuals to fill their open positions”.
Lion Rajesh V K Region Chairperson of Lions Clubs International District 317F said “This job fair is a great platform to unite the right talent with the right job opportunities. It is our intention to provide a means to help students and the community”.
Lion Sasha Kulothungan the program coordinator of Igniting Minds- Job Fair 2018 said that this is a win-win event. Not only does it help connect the student community with quality employment opportunities, but it also provides a low-cost and convenient way for businesses to find quality employees.
The event was supported by leading multi- national corporations, Karnataka Employment Exchange, reputed private limited companies and Lions fraternity of Lions Club International District 317F.
