The Seshadripuram branch of Krsna Consciousness popularly known as ISKCON Sri Jagannath Mandir Seshadripuram celebrates its annual RATHA YATRA on June 30th 2019. Hailed as the biggest RATHA YATRA in Bangalore, this festival attracts more than 5000 people. Celebrations begin early in the morning at 5AM with offering of Mangalarti to their lordships and will go on till 11PM. The procession will be inaugurated by PWD Minister, Govt of Karnataka H D Revanna at 3 pm. This festival is being celebrated consecutively for the past 19 years by the temple congregation with increasing pomp and festivity.
The procession route will be as follows
ISKCON Seshadripuram> Swastik circle > Mantri Mall > 8th Criss Malleswaram > Dattatreya Temple > Vinayaka Circle > Guttahalli Circle > Rama Convention hall.
Highlights of the festival will be Ecstatic ROCK kirtans from international band comprising of personalities from 8 different countriesfollowed by cultural programs at Rama convention hall after the procession. Sermons by saints from Vrindavan Dham(Uttar Pradesh) giving detailed descriptions of Jagannath pastimes. Prize distribution for Bhagavad Gita Contest held recently across Bangalore in schools for 4000 students. Breakfast, lunch and dinner prasadam will be served for all devotees.
Close to two weeks back the lordships were bathed with Kaveri water at Dodda Gosai Ghaat and as the legend goes, they get sick and take rest, being away from the sanctum sanctorum. After recovering they go out on the procession. RATHA YATRA is a festival where the lordships leave their place and go out on the streets for those people who are unable to visit temple for some reason. Throughout India you’ll rarely see temples where the deities leave the sanctum sanctorum and are taken outside. During the procession the lordships will be offered bhoga of 1008 items. The entire procession will be accompanied by thousands of dancing devotees with melodious kirtans, distribution of prasad, darshan of lordships etc….
