3rd year celebration of Kannadati Utsava

Avala Hejje, a social enterprise based in Bengaluru, invites degree colleges from across Karnataka to participate in the State level Inter-College Theatre competition on the occasion of the 3rd year celebration of Kannadati Utsava.

Avala Hejje launched an annual festival Kannadati Utsava, in 2017 with the hope that every November, as part of Karnataka Rajyotsava celebration, we remember to celebrate the stories and experiences of women who have contributed to building our world. Last year’s Kannadati Utsava was a festival of short films directed by women and was screened at several locations including Infosys, Mysore and Sahyadri College, Shimoga.

As part of Kannadati Utsava -2019, Avala Hejje is organising a State-wide intercollegiate Theatre competition around the theme ‘Female Gaze’. We are inviting all the interested colleges of Karnataka to register on or before August 31st 2019 through our website: https://avalahejje.in/en/kannadati-utsava.html

Colleges/students can register their team along with 1. Director’s Notes 2. Synopsis of the Play and 3. Names of the participants. Also, The Writer/Director should be a female student and the team should have at least 4 female members (maximum 8 members including technical and backstage support)

Teams will be invited for an audition in the month of September. Selected teams will be eligible to perform during Kannadati Utsava celebrations
