The Daily Demands On A Private Security Guard:

As per usage of the MyGate Guard App at 5500+ gated communities in 16 cities:

*A guard, on average, validates 343 visitors in an 8-hour shift, a near impossible task without the aid of technology.

*The work of guards increases in adverse weather conditions – particularly in the rainy season as the dependence of ecommerce (food, cabs, groceries, etc.) and, therefore, the number of visitors goes up, and the condition at the gate worsens as well. The average number of visitors to societies (per shift) were highest in Mumbai (437 in July) and Chennai (364 in November) during the rainy season and for Delhi in during the cold (399 in January).

*Other than visitor verification, guards also respond to a high number of other tasks on the MyGate Guard App to ensure order and security. These include attending to queries from residents (median of 47 phone calls/messages per day) and checking the status of delivery personnel who’ve overstayed their welcome on the premises (26 per day).

MyGate has always drawn insight from guards through informal meet-ups, it will now launch a structured, month-long programme wherein senior leadership from across functions will spend time shadowing guards across locations. This will help them better understand how the function is evolving and continue building smart solutions that make security professionals more effective as guardians of Indian homes and office spaces. This programme will begin with Vijay Arisetty (CEO), Abhishek Kumar (CoO) and Shreyans Daga (CTO) spending the day at the main gate of prominent societies in Bangalore.
