Bengaluru, August 6:
A strong demand has been made to induct Mudigere MLA Nayana Motamma into the Karnataka Cabinet by allocating a ministerial berth under the women’s quota.
Addressing a press at Bangalore, representatives of the organisation said that despite her dedication to the Congress party, disciplined public life, and growing popularity among the people of Mudigere, Nayana Motamma has not yet been given an opportunity to serve as a minister. They stated that her commitment to the party and her clean public image make her a deserving candidate for the Cabinet.
The speakers also highlighted the political legacy of her mother, former minister Motamma, who made significant contributions to women’s empowerment by strengthening Self-Help Groups benefiting more than two lakh women across the state. They noted that Motamma also served as an AICC Working Committee member and as the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, earning recognition for her effective leadership and administrative capabilities.
According to the organisation, Nayana Motamma’s educational background, humility, organisational skills, and unwavering commitment to the Congress party make her well-suited for ministerial responsibilities. They said her induction into the Cabinet would not only strengthen women’s representation but also inspire young women to actively participate in public service and politics.
The organisation appealed to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, along with Karnataka Congress leaders, to consider Nayana Motamma for a Cabinet berth. They also urged the state’s leadership to ensure adequate representation for women in the ministry.
Speaking at the press, S.B. Mallikarjuna Swamy, State Founder President, reiterated that appointing Nayana Motamma as a minister would recognise merit, commitment, and women’s leadership within the Congress party. He said the organisation strongly urges the party leadership to induct her into the Karnataka Cabinet at the earliest.
