Bengaluru, September 3, 2026: With India witnessing a steadily rising cancer burden and an estimated 1.5 million new cases diagnosed every year, early detection of recurrence remains one of the most significant challenges in cancer care. Many patients may be at risk of cancer returning even when there are no visible signs of the disease through conventional clinical assessment or imaging.
Addressing this critical diagnostic gap, MedGenome has launched OncoTrack MRD, described as India’s first indigenous, personalised and ultra-sensitive Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based tumour-informed Molecular Residual Disease (MRD) test.
The test is designed to detect circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) in the bloodstream by creating a customised molecular profile using an initial baseline tissue and blood sample. Once this personalised profile is established, subsequent monitoring can be carried out through a standard blood draw, enabling oncologists to assess the risk of recurrence earlier while complementing conventional imaging and clinical monitoring.
Dr. Vedam Ramprasad, CEO of MedGenome Labs Ltd, said the growing cancer burden in India has increased the need for more precise tools to identify patients who may be at risk of recurrence even in the absence of visible disease.

The test has been developed in-house and can be used for major solid tumours, including breast, lung, colorectal and gynaecological cancers. With home sample collection and nationwide availability, the test can be performed multiple times a year depending on the patient’s clinical requirements and the treating oncologist’s recommendation.
The launch of OncoTrack MRD marks another step towards expanding access to advanced molecular diagnostics in India. As precision oncology continues to evolve, molecular monitoring is expected to play an increasingly important role alongside imaging and clinical evaluation, helping doctors personalise treatment strategies, monitor patients more closely and improve long-term cancer management.
