BENGALURU, November 5, 2026: Access to specialised neurological emergency care in North Bengaluru has received a boost with SPARSH Hospitals, Hennur, inaugurating a dedicated 10-bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) equipped to handle critical and complex neurological conditions.
The new facility is designed to provide specialised treatment for patients suffering from acute stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, severe seizures, brain infections and other neurological disorders, including Guillain-Barré syndrome and myasthenia gravis.

The Neuro ICU was inaugurated by Dr. S. Venkateswara Sharma, Deputy Director, Udupi Ramachandra Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Bengaluru. The inauguration was attended by SPARSH Hospitals Group CEO Jasdeep Singh; Cluster COO Col. Rahul Tewari; Dr. Murali Mohan, Lead Consultant – Neurosurgery; and Dr. Nithin Kumar N., Senior Consultant – Neurology, along with senior doctors and hospital staff.
Equipped with advanced critical care technology, the 10-bed unit features continuous video EEG monitoring to detect seizure activity and intracranial pressure monitoring for patients with traumatic brain injuries and hydrocephalus. Other facilities include mechanical ventilation, advanced haemodynamic monitoring and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) for patients experiencing multiple organ complications.
The unit also follows stringent infection prevention protocols and provides access to CT scans, MRI and neuro-interventional radiology services to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment. A multidisciplinary team comprising neuro-intensivists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, critical care nurses and rehabilitation specialists will provide coordinated, round-the-clock patient care.
Speaking at the inauguration, Col. Rahul Tewari, Cluster COO, SPARSH Hospitals, Hennur and Yeshwanthpur, said that expanding access to specialised healthcare closer to residential communities was becoming increasingly important as Bengaluru continued to grow.
“Healthcare must evolve with the needs of the communities it serves. The launch of the Neuro ICU at Hennur reflects our commitment to bringing together clinical expertise, advanced technology and compassionate care to make specialised medical services more accessible to people in North Bengaluru,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of dedicated neurological critical care, Dr. Murali Mohan, Lead Consultant – Neurosurgery, SPARSH Hospitals, Hennur Road, said patients with serious neurological conditions require continuous monitoring, prompt clinical assessment and timely intervention.
“A dedicated Neuro ICU enables us to closely monitor brain function, detect complications at an early stage and coordinate treatment through a multidisciplinary approach. This is particularly crucial in acute stroke and severe neurological injuries, where timely medical intervention can significantly influence patient outcomes,” he said.
With the launch of the dedicated Neuro ICU, SPARSH Hospitals aims to strengthen its specialised critical care services in North Bengaluru. The facility is expected to improve access to advanced neurological treatment by bringing together specialised medical expertise, modern monitoring systems and comprehensive critical care under one roof.
