Real estate sector slowdown is temporary: NAREDCO

With the real estate sector going through a difficult phase unsold inventory, financial crunch, government regulations etc -the one-day conclave of Karnataka Builders & Developers is pinning hopes on the State Government to resolve some of the issues. The Chief Minister, Shri. B.S.Yediyurappa who is inaugurating the conclave on September 25 is expected to give direction to the real estate sector which at the moment needs enormous push not only from the government but also other stakeholders.

The conclave, organised by the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), Karnataka, is going to discuss threadbare the challenges facing the real estate sector. The broad sessions are on : Impact of government policies (GST, RERA, NGT, local regulatory bodies etc); Ease of doing business (liquidity issues, banking support, innovative funding etc); Ground reality way forward (challenges, solutions and enablers); Opportunities big picture (Housing for all by 2022, economic contribution of real estate, big picture (Housing for all by 2022, economic in Tier 1,2,3,4 & rural housing, role of big, medium and small builders). The conclave is being held at the auditorium hall of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI)

The conclave is being attended by several top notch builders, experts and government officials as the need for resolving the issues has taken priority. The President of NAREDCO Karnataka, Shri. Sathish Kumar said that the recommendations of the conclave would be submitted not just to the State Government but also the centre and respective departments. Some of the panellists include Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani of the Hiranandani Group; Dr. Rajeev Talwar of DLF; Dr. Gopalan of SDC; Shri. K.Sriram of Tapovan; Urban Development Ministry; Shri. Subhash Adi of NGT; BMRDA, BDA, BBMP and many others.

The Conclave is supported by other industry bodies like BAI, BREDAI, FKCCI

Shri. Sathish Kumar said that prior to the conclave, NAREDCO has held brainstorming sessions with the community of builders and developers to chalk out a roadmap for recovery of the real estate sector. The volatility of the market has impacted everyone, not just the builders and developers, but also the consumers and in this background, the conclave is expected to chalk out strategies. The Chief Minister is expected to activate the sector through proactive schemes and policies and NAREDCO will work with the government and help the sector to grow as ‘Housing for all’ is a challenge which has to be jointly addressed. A special task force (STF)) is being constituted at the conclave to not only give direction to the sector but also coordinate with government agencies.

Besides the panel discussions, the conclave also has set up a display of innovative housing products and solutions.

Positive results from Novartis five-year VERIFY study in type 2 diabetes demonstrate long-term clinical benefits of early combination treatment with vildagliptin and metformin

Mumbai, September 19, 2019 — Novartis today announced the key results from the Phase IV clinical study VERIFY evaluating the long-term efficacy and safety of early combination treatment strategy with metformin plus vildagliptin (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 [DPP-4] inhibitor) compared to the traditional stepwise approach with metformin as initial therapy followed by vildagliptin, added at the time of metformin failure1,2. The key study findings were presented today at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting and published simultaneously in The Lancet.

VERIFY is a unique study designed to determine durability, over a pre-specified five-year follow-up of early use of combination therapy strategy with vildagliptin-metformin. The study was conducted across 254 centers in 34 countries and involved 2001 treatment-naïve diverse individuals recently diagnosed with T2DM (HbA1c between 6.5–7.5% [48–58 mmol/mol])1,2.

In the randomized, double-blind Phase IV study (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01528254), early combination therapy of vildagliptin (50 mg, twice daily) and metformin (individually, 1000–2000 mg, daily) met the primary endpoint with a statistically significant 49% reduction in the relative risk for time to initial treatment failure (HbA1c ≥ 7.0% twice, consecutively, 13 weeks apart), versus metformin alone (HR: 0.51, 95% CI [0.45, 0.58]; P<0·0001)1,2.

The combination treatment strategy also showed a lower frequency of secondary failure when all patients were receiving combination therapy (HR: 0.74, 95% CI [0.63, 0.86]; P<0.0001). Furthermore, patients treated with early combination had consecutively lower HbA1c levels (below 6.0%, 6.5% or 7.0%) for 5 years versus those receiving combination therapy only after metformin monotherapy failure1.

“The initial findings from the VERIFY study uniquely demonstrate that early intervention with a combination therapy strategy provides greater and durable long-term benefits for patients. The currently recommended initial monotherapy approach with later treatment intensification in type 2 diabetes management is now shown to be an inferior strategy,” said Professor David Matthews, EASD President and Emeritus Professor of Diabetic Medicine, University of Oxford, UK.

The overall safety and tolerability profile was similar between the treatment approaches, with no unexpected or new safety findings reported1.

“In light of the existing gaps in diabetes management in India which is home to over 72 million people living with diabetes, we continue to focus on driving science in order to improve patient outcomes. The VERIFY study is an extension of our efforts towards continuing to win for as many patients with diabetes. The positive results from the VERIFY study further affirm the importance of early treatment intensification in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients,” said Sanjay Murdeshwar, Managing Director, Novartis in India.

Additional pre-defined secondary analyses of the VERIFY study results are ongoing and data will be disclosed over the coming months at international and local medical congresses and in scientific journals.

ಮಹಿಳಾ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಕ್ರಿಯಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಎರಡು ದಿನದ ಸೆಮಿನಾರ್ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳ ಸಮಿನಾರ್ ಅನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮೂಲದ ಲಾಭೋದ್ದೇಶವಿಲ್ಲದ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ( NGO ) ಪ್ರಕ್ರತಾ ನಡೆಸಲಿದೆ . “ WEBB 2019 ” ( ಗಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ) ಎಂಬ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ , ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಂತ ಉದ್ಯಮವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಪ್ಯಾಕೇಜಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾ ಡಿಂಗ್ , ಹಣಕಾಸು , ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ , ಗ್ರಾಹಕ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು ಕುರಿತು ಉಪಯುಕ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಅವಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತದೆ . ಮಹಿಳೆಯರನ್ನು ಸಬಲೀಕರಣಗೊಳಿಸುವ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುವ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ , ಈ ಸಮಿನಾರ್‌ನ ಎರಡನೇ ದಿನದಂದು ಕೈ – ತರಬೇತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸ ವ್ಯವಹಾರ ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಿದೆ . ಉಷಾ ರಾವ್ ಅವರ ‘ ಅವಳಿ ಹೃದಯ ‘ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಅಧಿವೇಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಾವಿದರಿಂದ ಡಯೊ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ . ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 23 ರಂದು , ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸ್ಕಾರ್ಲೆಟ್ ಟೈಗರ್ನ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಅತುಲ್ ಸಿನ್ಹಾ ಅವರು ಪ್ಯಾಕೇಜಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಾಂಡಿಂಗ್ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ : ಶ್ರೀವಿದ್ಯಾ ಪಪ್ಪಾಲ ಅವರು ಎಂಎಸ್‌ಎಂಇ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಯಕ ತರಬೇತುದಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಪ್ರೇರಕ ಭಾಷಣಕಾರರಾದ ನಿಧಿ ಭಾಸಿನ್ ಅವರು ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ವ್ಯವಹಾರವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ನಡೆಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತು ಮಹಿಳಾ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಸಲಹೆಗಳು , ಒಳನೋಟಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ . – ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ ಸತತ ಎರಡನೇ ವರ್ಷವೂ ಈ ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ . ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷ 500 ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಸಮಿನಾರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಅದರ ಲಾಭ ಪಡೆದರು . ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ವಿಶೇಷವೆಂದರೆ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 11 ರಂದು ಐಟಿಪಿಎಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನನಡೆಯಲಿದ್ದು , ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ . ಹೊಸ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯಲು , ಅನುಭವವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಯಶಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸುವುದು ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ . 2007 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಯಿತು . ಪುಣೆಯ ಚಿಂಚವಾಡ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಶಾಖೆ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಏಳು ಶಾಖೆಗಳುಹೊಂದಿದೆ ಎನ್ನಿಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರಗಳು , ತರಬೇತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು , ಉದ್ಯಮ ಭೇಟಿಗಳು , ತಜ್ಞರ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಗಳು , ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಹೊಸ ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸ್ಥಿರತೆಯನ್ನು ಯೋಜಿಸಲು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ . ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾದ ಎನ್‌ಜಿಒದ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ ಸೇವಾ ಯೋಜನೆಯು ಸಮಾಜದ ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ದುರ್ಬಲ ವರ್ಗಗಳಾದ ಅಸಂಘಟಿತ ವಲಯದ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು – ಗೃಹಿಣಿಯರು , ಅಡುಗೆಯವರು , ತೋಟಗಾರರು , ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳಾ ರಸ್ತೆ ಮಾರಾಟಗಾರರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮನೆ ಆಧಾರಿತ ವ್ಯವಹಾರಗಳ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸುವತ್ತ ಗಮನಹರಿಸಿದೆ . ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಸ್ವ – ಸಹಾಯ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು , ಸ್ವರಕ್ಷಣೆ ತಂತ್ರಗಳು , ಮಹಿಳಾ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಸಾಲಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವು ಮಾಹಿತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರನ್ನು ಸಬಲೀಕರಣಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ .
