NMIMS Bengaluru Celebrates Convocation, Marking a Milestone in Higher Education for SoC, SoE, and SoS Graduates

Bengaluru, August, 2023: SVKM’s NMIMS Bengaluru hosted its convocation ceremony, where 200 bright graduates from the School of Commerce (SoC), School of Economics (SoE), and School of Science (SoS) were conferred degrees. Mr. Nitin Pai, CMO & Chief Strategy Officer at Tata Elxsi, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The convocation ceremony held at NMIMS Bengaluru campus was attended by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, Dr. Narayani Ramachandran, Deputy Director, NMIMS Bengaluru and Mr. Ashish Apte, Controller of examinations along with other senior staff and faculty members from NMIMS.
The students being convocated, who had completed various academic programs such as BBA, B.Sc. (Finance), B.Com. (Hons.), B.Sc. (Economics), and B.Sc. (Applied Statistics & Analytics), were applauded for their hard work and perseverance. The event was a significant day in the academic journey of the fresh graduates. While it signified the successful completion of their college life, it also symbolised their readiness to become professionals and embark on new and exciting chapters in their lives. The convocation ceremony saw the presence of dignitaries, faculty members, proud parents, and well-wishers, who witnessed the graduates being awarded their well-deserved degrees.

During the ceremony, V. Tejasvini, a B. Com (Hons) student, received recognition for achieving the 1st rank in her program. The event also showcased numerous accomplishments of both faculty and students, both within the institute and in external arenas, eliciting enthusiastic applause from the audience.
In his address, Mr. Nitin Pai, said, “I urge the fresh graduates to think creatively and boldly in their future endeavors. I want to add that true success is not measured by achievements but also by the positive impact you have on the lives of others and the society.”
Speaking at the event Dr. Ramesh Bhat, expressed, “It is a joyous occasion and a celebration of excellence. The students’ presence at this ceremony today is the result of years of hard work and determination. I take great pride in the graduates’ achievements. As you step out of these haloed precincts, I am confident that you will excel in your chosen fields and make a mark in life.”
Dr. Narayani Ramachandran, highlighted how the students’ journey at NMIMS Bengaluru has equipped them with the knowledge and skills to steer through the complexities of the world. She further said, “My advice to them would be to consistently demonstrate a sense of responsibility in all their actions. I am certain that you will rise to any occasion and make a lasting impression wherever you go next.”

Curates 600+ destinations with the aim of broadening depth of discovery for tourism marvels in the country

To arrive at the curated shortlist, MakeMyTrip looked through India’s travel search history. With millions of visitors using the platform every month, the destination searches on the platform can be considered to be the nation’s ballot for must-see destinations in the country. Based on this premise, the company selected destinations that are lesser known, or are only familiar to people in certain pockets of the country. The selections have been further categorised with tags such as adventure, wildlife, heritage, mountains, beaches etc, to help travellers sift through to their preferred travel genres. “The Traveller’s Map of India reflects the voice of almost every Indian traveller which makes it aptly commemorative of August 15th.” said Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder & Group CEO, MakeMyTrip.

Cambridge Students Across India Shine in June 2023 Exam Series Students from across India receive Cambridge International AS & A Level / IGCSE & O Level exam results

Bangalore, 17th August 2023 – Thousands of students in India have received the results of the Cambridge International June 2023 exam series over the past week. Cambridge IGCSE and O Level exam results are released today, following the release of Cambridge International AS & A Level results on 16 August. These results mark the end of an important phase of their lives and ready them for their next step in the world, whether in work or continuing their studies.

Cambridge International, a not-for-profit organisation, part of the world-renowned University of Cambridge and the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 3 to 19 year olds, has released the results of its June 2023 exam series to over half a million students worldwide, including nearly 9000 in India.
This year saw Cambridge International’s largest exam series to date, with 1.7 million entries for Cambridge exams across 5,600 schools in 147 countries. An increase of 11% on June 2022. Despite the challenges of the pandemic over the past few years, students in India have been able to gain the qualifications they need to take their next step, which is proof of their hard work and the continued support of their schools, teachers, families, and communities.
In total, there were almost 32,000 entries for Cambridge IGCSE, O Level and International AS & A Level exams in the June 2023 series in India, a rise of 4% since June 2022. More than 4300 students in India took Cambridge IGCSE and O Level exams, with English, Physics, and Mathematics being the most popular subjects. Over 4500 students in India took Cambridge International AS & A Level exams, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics being the most popular subjects.
Cambridge International holds three exam series each year in India, enabling schools to choose the series that best fits their students’ needs. The March series is the largest, however June is also a popular choice for schools.
On the June 2023 exam series, Rod Smith, Group Managing Director, International Education at Cambridge, said: “I congratulate Cambridge students for their hard work in achieving these results. They have shown great resilience over the past few years and have kept on moving forward with their education. With these qualifications our students can feel confident that they have developed the skills they need for the future, so they can embrace whatever opportunities lie ahead.

Like other exam boards, Cambridge International has been moving the standard of Cambridge qualifications back to the pre-pandemic standard of 2019 in gradual steps. This year’s standard has returned to the standard of 2019, and the impact of the pandemic has been taken into account when setting the grade boundaries. This means a student who would have achieved a grade A before the pandemic will be just as likely to get a grade A in 2023.
More than 600 schools across India offer Cambridge programmes and qualifications to their students. The Cambridge Pathway curriculum offers flexibility and choice to students and schools, with over 70 subjects available at Cambridge IGCSE and over 55 subjects offered at Cambridge International AS & A Level.
