Appeal to our Honorable Government to include Photography, Videography and other related workers under unorganized worker’s category and provide them all the existing benefits.

Photography is an unique art which has completed 183 years. Crores of people are involved in this sector throughout the world. Likewise, in Karnataka there are about three lakh people working in this sector and taking care of their families.

Photography sector includes photographers, videographers, studio owners and assistants, editors, album designers, LED wall technicians, etc. They are annually paying crores of rupees as tax to the Government. Hence, there is no doubt that Government is being profited. Unfortunately, no assistance has been given to us during this pandemic. Due to the strict lockdown protocols, there has abeen a huge loss to our business. We have brought our grievances to Government’s notice several times, but no action has been taken. Government has neglected our sector and has included other new sectors as unorganized and giving them the required assistance and subsides. The media consists of our photographers and videographers, elected representatives daily use their services and are aware of their situation, but have turned a deaf ear towards their appeal.

In this regard, Karnataka Unorganized Photography Career Group Central Association (R) has requested our Honorable Government to include photography and videography under unorganized worker’s category and provide them all the existing benefits.

Bangalore, 18 August 2021: Colt Technology Services India Pvt. Ltd. (Colt India), in partnership with Bangalore North Round Table Trust 25 and Embassy REIT, inaugurated a new classroom block at the Government Higher Primary School in Thanisandra. Constructed over a period of four months during the Covid-19 pandemic, the newly renovated section will welcome students back to the school with an environment conducive to learning, encouraging greater attendance and learning outcomes.

Located within three kilometres of Embassy Manyata Business Park, where Colt India is a corporate occupier, BNRT and Embassy REIT identified the project, while curating the schedule and plan, and managing the on-site upgradations.

With a strength of over 1000 students, the Government Higher Primary School, Thanisandra, required significant improvements to its existing infrastructure due to outdated construction of some of its buildings and a lack of maintenance. Challenges consisted of heavily chipped flooring and water logged classrooms.

The project is funded by Colt India, under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, includes the renovations and refurbishment of 3 classrooms, water proofing of the terrace, new internal flooring, repairs to the doors and windows, electrical fixtures, painting and furniture installation for both students and teachers of the said school.

Shri. Hanumantharaya, BEO – Bangalore South 4, said, “It is extremely heartening to see corporates and NGOs such as Colt India, Embassy REIT and BNRT providing a model for sustainable and in-depth support for our Government Schools. These new facilities and infrastructure will enable our students to reach their true potential by providing them spaces that spark learning. We are grateful for their meaningful partnership with the Department of Education, which aims to strengthen our existing education system. We hope such initiatives encourage other corporates to come forward in nurturing the schools around where they work.”

Nafisa Ojha, MD and Country Manager, Colt India, said, “We take pride in Colt’s culture when we say we can change the world. We consider it as a part of our duty and we make sure that in our small ways we help in making this world a better place. I am so happy for the children who will be able to study slightly more comfortably and we are able to make that small difference”.

Mike Holland, CEO – Embassy REIT, said, “We were glad to support and partner with Colt India, a corporate whose values adhere so closely to our own, to enhance Government Schools and under-served communities around our where we work. Partnering with other corporates and the Government ensures that we continue to create sustainable and in-depth impact towards empowering our existing educational system. Creating a safe and inviting learning atmosphere is of the utmost importance and plays a role in ensuring the future success of our students.”

The initiative was project managed by BNRT and Embassy REIT, under Embassy’s flagship ‘Corporate Connect Program,’ which aims to bring together Business Park tenants with aligned Corporate Social Responsibility mandates and experienced non-profits to collectively address and solve a diverse number of challenges faced in Government Schools. Having partnered with 34 corporates for 59 projects since the inception of the program, Embassy aims to close the gaps for Bangalore’s underprivileged children by harnessing the support of its business parks’ corporate tenants.

From Farmers To Agri-Entrepreneurs – A Silerit Revolution OC Rural Transformation

From Farmers To Agri-Entrepreneurs – A Silerit Revolution OC Rural Transformation

Farmers feed everyone, yet they go hungry. They have the land, the water and the minpower in most places, yet for lack of exposure to the right contemporary tools, techniques anu technology they have been left off the radar of development.

In a bid to strengthen this backbone of the cconomy and ecology, Isha Foundation volunteers are handholding the ‘negila (plough) vogis’ of the Kaveri basin to reverse the growth spiral and help our farmers not just become self-sustaining but also make them ambassadors of an ecological transformation in the Cauvery delta.

As part of its ‘Cauvery Calling’ programme, Isha bas been facilitating a transformation in the agricultural sector in the region by offering adoption and implenentation of Tree Bused agriculture as a solution for variety of issues faced by farmers in the region as well as the only way to naturally replenish the soil by increasing its organic content. So far Isha has enabled over 107,000 farmers to adopt tree based agriculture. There is a considerable enthusiasm among the farmers about tree based agriculture and government agroforestry schemes. While government agro-forestry schemes have been around for a longtime now, farmers have stayed deprived of their benefits due to lack of access, awareness and information. This is where thousands of Isha voluateers are playing a role by not just educating the farmers but also handbolding them through the entire process of availing these schemes and implementing them successfully,

#Around 120 volunteers man a IVR helpline that assists farmers at every stepn every day from 9 an to 9pm

# Volunteers teach thousands of farmers on how to use zoom or google meet apps. for intensive interactions #Farmers are connected to various industry experts and scientists through Cauvery Calling technical webinars and intimate group meets #Grassroots officials are being inspired and invited to collaborate with the project through 1785 gram panchayat events

# 890 Mara mitras have been appointed to register farmer denand using our state of the art mobile app #Isha will soon start its nursery operations in Karnataka. The Isha nursery in Tamil Nadu is one of the largest organic sapling nurscry in the country,

Cauvery calling was launched in September 2019 by Sadhguru with a mega motor-rally through the entire stretch of river Cauvery und aims to take tree-based agriculture to over 5.2 million farmers in the river basin. By enabling larmers to plant 242 crore trees in the delta region, the project intends to reverse the depletion of Cauvery, enhance ground water levels in the region, eririch the soil nutrients, as well as lead to a three to eight fold increase in farmer income. Despite Covid, 68 lakh saplings were picked up under the KAPY scheme because of the efforts of our volunteers who have been working on the ground as well as in the backend.

On August 2, Cauvery Calling, a massive outreach campaign of Isha, was launched covering 1785 Gram Panchayats in Bengaluru rural, Chikkamagalur. Chamarajanagara. Hassan Kodagu, Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara and Tumkur creating awareness about tree-based agriculture in respective villages. Till date 475 events have been organized — 27 taluk, 439. Gram Panchayat and 09 District events. 35 events were conducted in Bengaluru rural alone by Isha volunteers attended by 460 people including farmers, govermment officials, PDO, Panchayat President, Sericulture staff and Anganwadi staff. In the coming weeks, 24 more events are planned in Devanahalli and Doddaballpura, which will conclude by 23rd August. In the week after the outreach will enter the remaining two talukas– Nelamangala and Hosakote.

“To have a healthy society, we should have 33% forest arca, but now India has only 16% Karnataka 15%, Bengaluru Rural 9%.with these percentages how can we build a healthy society? So, every farmer should adopt agro-forestry and make this wonderful project Cauvery Calling successful.” said DRFO of Social Forestry Shri Chandra Kumar while presiding over the Cauvery Calling event last week in Bangalore Rural.
