STRENGTHENS ITS OMNI CHANNEL PRESENCE IN SOUTHERN INDIA
KARNATAKA, March 10th , 2022 : Pepperfry, India’s No.1 furniture and home products marketplace, announced the launch of two new Studios in Bangalore. The offline expansion is in line with the company’s aim to penetrate niche markets and build the largest omni-channel business in the furniture and home products segment in India. Pepperfry, which launched its first Studio in 2014, currently has 100 plus Studios across 50 plus cities in the country. South India, which forms the biggest market for Pepperfry, alone, houses 35 Studios across Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Vizag, Madurai, Kottayam, Kollam, Salem, Gulbarga, Trichy Vellore, Secundrabad, Vijayawada, and Chittoor.
The two new Studios in Bangalore are situated in prime locations at Electronic City and Battarahalli, spanning a carpet area of 1000 and 400 sq.ft respectively. Both the studios are launched in partnerships with SSVR Enterprises at Electronic City and Haritha Enterprises at Battarahalli. The Studios offer customers a first-hand experience of a curated range of furniture and décor, which is carefully selected from the differentiated portfolio of more than 1 lakh products available on Pepperfry’s website. These Studios provide the touch and feel experience for consumers to understand wood finishes and quality of these big-ticket items before purchasing them. It also houses design experts that offer complementary design consultancy thereby aiding consumers in creating their dream homes.
Building on their omni-channel network, in 2017, Pepperfry introduced a unique franchise model and in a very short span they launched 70 FOFO Studios across metros, Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets like Pathankot, Trivandrum, Patna, Bengaluru, Indore, Chennai, Guwahati and Coimbatore. For these Franchise Studios, Pepperfry decided to partner with the finest local entrepreneurs who are well versed with hyperlocal demand cycles and trends. The company revised this franchise model in 2020 to make it more lucrative for both existing and potential franchise partners. It now offers a reward structure wherein the franchise owners can benefit by earning commission of 15% (previous model: 10%) on each online transaction made via the franchise studio.
In June 2021, Pepperfry launched the Pepperfry Accelerator Program with an aim to establish over 200 Studios in one year. The objective of this newly crafted program is to exponentially expand Pepperfry’s offline footprint by adding one entrepreneur a day for the rest of the year. However, the big differentiator of the new program is the Capex required by franchise partners, which is around INR 15 lakhs – one-third as compared to the existing franchise program.
Both the models are based on 100% price parity and does not require the partner to hold product inventory, making it a mutually beneficial business association.
Speaking of the launch Amruta Gupta, Business Head, Pepperfry said, “We are delighted to expand our omni-channel footprint by launching two new Studios in Bangalore in partnership with SSVR Enterprises and Haritha Enterprises. With this, we now have 13 Pepperfry Studios in the city. At Pepperfry, our aim is to be available to our customers through as many touchpoints as possible, offering great variety at great price points. Thus, in the current times where individuals have become more conscious towards their home-environment and are investing behind creating a space that is functional and aesthetic, we believe our Studios will aid consumers in creating an ideal home.”
Vaishnavee Subramaniam & Guruprasad Soundarrajan, Owners, SSVR Enterprises said, “We have been in Franchise Partnership with Pepperfry since 2019 and own 2 Pepperfry franchisees in Coimbatore & Chennai. This is our 3rd franchise studio with Pepperfry and we are happy to partner with India’s leading home and furniture marketplace. Pepperfry has pioneered a truly differentiated omnichannel business and we are glad to join them in their journey to create the largest omnichannel home and furniture business.”
Vimal Kumar Jain, Owner, Haritha Enterprises (franchise partner) further added, “We are extremely happy partnering with Pepperfry and being a part of their journey in building the largest omni-channel business in the furniture and home products segment in India.”
~ India retains its place amongst the top-3 focus markets for South African Tourism~ ~Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune continue to be top Indian source markets to South Africa~ ~Over 1 in 4 Indian arrivals to South Africa are motivated by MICE~ ~Ahmedabad emerges as one of the fastest growing source markets in India~
Bengaluru, 09th March 2022: To accelerate travel recovery momentum in India, South African Tourism looks at capitalizing on strong consumer demand in the country with their biggest travel trade initiative in India – their annual Roadshow. The tourism board showcased long-term investment and interest in the Indian market and outlined a strategic roadmap to garner 64% YoY increase in Indian visitors in 2022.
Travelling to the Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad this year, the 36-member South African trade delegation reiterated the tourism board’s emphasis on expanding the destination and product offering – thus, offering Indian consumers More & More! In addition to experiences, representatives from accommodation establishments, destination management companies, South African Provinces, SMMEs and women-owned companies showcased their product and services, while engaging Indian travel and trade associates.
India retains its place amongst the top-3 focus markets for South African Tourism. This is aided by the fact that prior to the pandemic, India served as the 8th largest international source market for South Africa. The country is expected to maintain its position in the top-10 this year as well. Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune continue to be top Indian source markets to South Africa.
“We have spent the last two years hoping for and preparing for this exact moment – the return of travel! As South African businesses land on Indian shores, we are excited to be introducing our partners and consumers to a host of value-driven and thoughtfully crafted adventures. Our evolved brand strategy will help us drive South Africa’s value proposition across stakeholders while creating customized engagement models to suit the unique requirements from each of our target regions within India. We are already seeing an uptick in forward travel bookings and hope to further build aspiration and intent to travel,” said Neliswa Nkani, Hub Head, MEISEA, South African Tourism.
With 9% of total Indian visitors to South Africa travelling from Bengaluru, the city is amongst the top-3 source markets for South African Tourism in India. Majority visitors from the Silicon Valley of India travel for leisure (47%) and business & MICE (43%). Solo travellers and bleisure travellers are the most frequent traveller segments to South Africa. The year-end period starting from September, October, November and December are preferred travel months amongst Bangaloreans for their South Africa trips.
Through a press conference, the tourism board highlighted that boosting connectivity and ease of travel to the destination was a core area of focus this year. The destination, which remains open to Indian travellers, is also processing tourist visas on priority. At present, several stop-over flights fly from India to South Africa, including Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and Air Mauritius. Travellers from India to South Africa will be required to produce a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test, not older than 72 hours from the time of departure from the country of origin to South Africa. Revealing future steps on connectivity and value, Neliswa Nkani added, “We are glad to announce that we on track to roll-out e-visas in India in the coming months. We are also conscious of the need for value-driven itineraries and are undertaking bullish measures to ensure that every rupee spent ensures maximum returns. By engaging with airlines on subsidized fares for the India market, we are looking to bring down the cost of travel remarkably.”
While consolidating its position in wildlife, adventure and cultural offerings, the destination will also target the niche film tourism market, for which South African Tourism has seen an upswing in enquiries and destination shoots. In order to arrive at this, the destination is engaging aggressively with production houses and OTT platforms.
To supplement recovery efforts and bring the destination alive by introducing the sights, sounds and tastes of South Africa to Indian consumers and corporates, the tourism board is also hosting several experiential events in Mumbai and Delhi immediately following the Roadshows. With performances by South African dance troupes, indigenous music, delectable food cooked by South African chefs and various culturally immersive activities, destination South Africa is all set to engage and delight Indian audiences. South African Tourism is also hosting a networking evening for travel trade partners in Mumbai.
Well-timed with the easing of international travel restrictions in India, these strategic efforts are expected to increase summer outbound traffic to South Africa and contribute to the recovery of the tourism sectors in both countries.
Bengaluru: Results of five elections to state assemblies are about communication and connect – in the big state of Uttar Pradesh it was correct communication said unabashedly, and in the hard fought battleground of Punjab, it was clamour for change that had clear connect with people.
We do not have the luxury of final count but the Exit polls or Post polls surveys in UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur have added much to our knowledge quotient and allowed us to indulge in this analysis.
Uttar Pradesh again going the BJP way point to the mapping of welfare schemes to women voters. The benefits of (ration and prashasan) were effectively communicated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the party leadership. The welfare schemes spoke for themselves while allowing the BJP leadership to attack the opposition. On the other hand, the opposition made a shrill campaign without anything to show.
The giant campaign machinery of BJP and the typical campaign of Narendra Modi fighting every election with the same vigour, and the perfect vote bank polarization contributed to Yogi becoming UPYogi again. Hijab issue does not seem to have had much effect in UP because the Muslim women have become neutral on Modi in 2019.
Kashi corridor added further hope and trust to the UP voters about Modi-Yogi as doers. What does UP or Punjab results mean to Karnataka, especially the ruling BJP? The party and the government will have to answer many questions, including anti-incumbency. Last week’s budget does not offer any grand answer that could have set direction for the 2023 elections.
Unlike Akhilesh Yadav in UP, Congress party state chief DK Shivakumar is aggressive in words & deeds, does not shy away from street fights or borrowing from the BJP’s strategy book to hit back. To combat DKS, Chief Minister BS Bommai has to be Yogi Adityanath and more.
BJP should stop the drift and look at Karnataka as 2 entities in 1 state. Treat capital Bengaluru as a separate unit and the rest of the state as another entity. Tech driven economy slogan does not bring votes in rest of Karnataka as it sells in Bengaluru.
To counter aggressive Congress, BJP has to set the agenda – political programmes, development narrative, caste combinations and cluster campaign.
Arvind Kejriwal is going to win Punjab because he changed the communication narrative with change (badlav) itself as the central theme. In Karnataka, both BJP and Congress have to relook at their communication strategy. There is scope for both, but one party will win. And the party that scripts distinct communication will come the winner.
