KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute Launched in Bengaluru; VVS Laxman Unveils Advanced Cancer Care Centre

Bengaluru, June 21: In a significant step towards strengthening cancer care services in Karnataka, KIMS Hospitals, Mahadevapura, has inaugurated the KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute, a comprehensive cancer treatment and research centre aimed at delivering advanced, multidisciplinary and patient-focused oncology care.

The institute was formally inaugurated by legendary former Indian cricketer and Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy, VVS Laxman, in the presence of leading oncologists, healthcare professionals, cancer survivors and community representatives.

The newly launched oncology institute has been established to provide end-to-end cancer care under one roof, bringing together expertise in surgical oncology, robotic surgery, medical oncology and supportive care. The facility is expected to enhance access to advanced diagnosis, precision treatment and holistic cancer management for patients in Bengaluru and neighbouring regions.

A key highlight of the event was the ‘Samrohana Sarathi Survivor Program’, which honoured cancer survivors for their courage, resilience and determination. The initiative celebrated individuals who have successfully battled cancer and continue to inspire others through their journeys of hope and recovery.

Reinforcing its commitment to early cancer detection and community outreach, the institute, in collaboration with the Samrohana Cancer Foundation, announced the “134 Free Screening Camp Pledge.” Inspired by VVS Laxman’s illustrious career of representing India in 134 Test matches, the initiative aims to conduct 134 free cancer awareness and screening camps for underserved communities. The programme seeks to promote prevention, awareness and timely diagnosis, which remain critical in improving cancer outcomes.

The inauguration also featured an engaging fireside discussion involving VVS Laxman and leading oncology experts, including Dr. Sandeep Nayak and Dr. Suresh Babu M.C. The discussion drew parallels between cricket and cancer care, highlighting the importance of teamwork, adaptability, strategic planning and perseverance in achieving successful treatment outcomes.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. B. Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS Group of Hospitals, said the organisation remains committed to expanding access to world-class healthcare while maintaining a strong focus on patient-centric care. He noted that the launch of the KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute represents another milestone in KIMS Hospitals’ mission to combine cutting-edge technology with clinical excellence.

He said the institute brings together advanced surgical techniques, robotic-assisted procedures, medical oncology and personalised treatment pathways to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

According to him, future success will increasingly depend on individuals who can continuously acquire new knowledge, connect ideas across diverse fields, and solve problems that do not fit within conventional disciplinary boundaries.

The discussions also examined how technological advancements and rapidly evolving industries are challenging long-established models of higher education. As new professions emerge and existing roles undergo transformation, the demand is growing for professionals who can integrate expertise from multiple domains rather than operate within narrow specialisations.

Speakers emphasised that qualities such as curiosity, resilience, adaptability, and lifelong learning are becoming as critical as technical knowledge in determining long-term career success. They stressed that universities must prepare students not only for existing jobs but also for opportunities and challenges that are yet to emerge.

WPU Goa currently offers programmes including B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Bachelor of Management Studies (Honours), B.Des. in Integrated Product Design, B.Des. in Communication Design, and B.Sc. (Honours) in Psychology.

Hundreds of Devotees Witness Sacred Golden Paduka Darshan as Mantralaya Seer Performs Special Poojas in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Devotional fervour marked a special religious ceremony at the Nanjanagudu Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Jayanagar, where His Holiness Sri 1008 Sri Subudhendra Tirtha Sripadangalavaru, the pontiff of the Mantralaya Mutt, conducted the sacred Sansthana Pooja of Sriman Moola Ramachandra Devaru with great reverence.

Following the ritual, the revered seer offered special worship to the Golden Moola Pada (sacred footprints) of Sri Raghavendra Swamy and facilitated the darshan of the revered golden padukas of the saint for devotees gathered at the mutt.

His Holiness later performed Maha Mangalarati to the Brindavana of Sri Raghavendra Swamy and blessed devotees by distributing Phala Mantrakshate, invoking the saint’s divine grace upon them.
Hundreds of devotees participated in the spiritual event, received the sacred prasada and Mantrakshate, and sought the blessings of Sri Raghavendra Swamy.

Mutt Manager R.K. Vadindra Acharya said the programme witnessed an overwhelming response from devotees, who expressed deep devotion and gratitude for the opportunity to receive the blessings of His Holiness and have darshan of the sacred golden padukas.

Bengaluru: Marking the auspicious occasion of Guru Pushya Yoga, special religious ceremonies were conducted at the Nanjangud Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Jayanagar 5th Block, Bengaluru. The rituals were organized under the guidance of the senior administrator of the mutt, R.K. Vadindra Acharya, in accordance with the directions of His Holiness Sri 1008 Sri Subudhendratheertha Sripadangalavaru.

As part of the celebrations, a special Phala Panchamrutha Abhisheka was performed to the Brindavana of Sri Raghavendra Swamy for the welfare and prosperity of society. Following the sacred ritual, the Brindavana was adorned with an elaborate floral decoration using a variety of fresh flowers. The ceremonies concluded with a grand Maha Mangalarati.

The occasion witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees, who visited the mutt to seek the blessings of Sri Raghavendra Swamy. Devotees lit lamps, offered prayers, and took part in the Annadana Seva conducted at the mutt.

After the rituals, devotees received Parimala Prasada, sacred Teertha, Mantrakshate, and blessed vastras, and sought the divine grace of Sri Raghavendra Swamy.

The spiritually vibrant atmosphere and overwhelming devotee participation made the Guru Pushya Yoga celebrations a memorable and deeply devotional event at the mutt.
