9th Edition of Asia’s largest Blues Festival on 9th-10th February

India, December 7, 2018: Asia’s largest blues celebration and Mumbai’s pride, the Mahindra Blues Festival, is back with its ninth edition featuring the biggest acts from across the globe. The two-day celebration in the Maximum City of Mumbai is a major draw for blues fans from across the country. Boasting an incredible line-up of acclaimed international artists at the iconic Mehboob Studio on the 9th and 10th February 2019, this music extravaganza is all set to enthral audiences with its high energy and vibe.
The heavy hitters on the list that will steal your heart are blues experts like Beth Hart, Charlie Musselwhite, Sugaray Rayford, Brandon Santini along with Arinjoy Trio representing the Indian act. They have come together to put together a high octane yet soulful and exquisite evening for Mumbai audiences.
The Blues Magazine once dubbed Beth Hart as “the ultimate female rock star.” The Grammy nominated singer/songwriter is riding a creative tidal wave with big hits on her recent album, “Fire On The Floor.” With a career spanning more than two decades in the blues industry, Hart has always been praised and admired for her “daring, brooding and angry” performances on stage.

Fifty years of non-stop touring, performing and recording, Charlie Musselwhite has won 35 Blues Music Awards, been nominated 12 times for the Grammy Awards, taking home his first Grammy win in 2015 for his collaboration with Ben Harper on Get Up! Charlie may be the only musician to get a huge ovation just for opening his briefcase!
Sugaray Rayford is an American electric blues singer and songwriter, who has recently marked a big hit with his fourth album “The World That We Live In.” His church-honed vocals have unquestionable gospel influences, infusing his music with a certain sincerity that is increasingly hard to find.
Often compared with James Cotton or Paul Butterfield, Blues Blast Award nominee, Memphis vocalist and harmonica player, Brandon Santini is a true dedicator of tradition blues with a modern colourful style of playing.

The winner of the Mahindra Blues Band Hunt, 2018, Arinjoy Trio is an amalgamation of three people who share a common hunger for the blues. Led by guitarist Arinjoy Sarkar, it comprises of Sounak Roy on drums and Aakash Ganguly on Bass. The trio performs a wide variety of blues music, from old school to contemporary.

Bengaluru-7th, Dec-2018:Kizhakkambalam Panchayath is an outstanding example of nation building, said Kamal Haasan, while addressing the media at Kitex Garments, Kochi. “I have come here not as a dignitary but as a partner, and will continuously, shamelessly copy the idea implemented by my friend Sabu M Jacob that helps in nation building. My vision is not blurred by party life. With a single vision and healthiest competition both me and Sabu Jacob will work as an individual of civic citizen,” said versatile actor –politician. He was in Kochi for the key handover ceremony of God’s Villa — a community development initiative of Twenty 20 by Anna-Kitex group.

“For executing good ideas, we need power. With sheer perseverance one can overcome any hindrances. Earnestness is the first thing I see here. For nation building, one must change personally. The main goal of neo political leaders is to secure more money for development rather than to earn money”, he added.

After speaking to the media, Kamal Haasan inaugurated the God’s Villa by handing over the first key to Raji Velayudhan, one among the 37 beneficiaries of the housing scheme. The Kitex MD and Twenty20 Chief Coordinator Sabu M. Jacob presided over the function.

“Successive political parties have ruled the panchayat for 20 years. But the life of voters, who were poor, remained the same. That’s why I decided to change their lives. I want to make Kizhakkambalam Panchayat the best in the country by the year 2020.” said Sabu M Jacob, Twenty 20 Chief Coordinator and Managing Director of Kitex Garments Ltd.

The contemporary looking 750 sq. ft independent houses are well equipped with amenities to match modern villas with kitchen, European toilet, sink, light and water. The house in four cents includes 2 bedrooms, a hall, and kitchen with car parking facility. Twenty 20 has also provided accessories like fan, fancy lights, furniture, dining tables, mixer/grinder, beds, TV, and sofa sets worth Rs 2 lakh at 50 per cent of the cost. Water connections are provided to each house with independent storage tanks of 1000 litres. A 25000 ltr common water tank, two wells and a bore-well is constructed to make sure uninterrupted water supply for the colony.

The colony has paved roads to each houses and got common amenity space for social gathering. BMBC roads are constructed to provide access to Highways.

The entire cost for the Njarellur project is 6 crores out of which Twenty 20 has spent 5 crore 26 lakhs and the Panchayath spent 74 lakhs under the government scheme “Laksham Veedu Ottaveedakkal Project”.
