BJP Leader Raghavendra Talwar Warns D.K. Shivakumar-Led Congress Government

Bengaluru: BJP leader Raghavendra Talwar has issued a strong warning to the newly led Congress government under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, alleging that despite completing three years in office, the government has failed to deliver even a single major development project for the people of Karnataka.

He accused the Congress government of wasting the last three years in internal power struggles, factional politics, political theatrics and leadership battles, while completely neglecting the state’s overall development and the welfare of its citizens.

Talwar alleged that even during former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s tenure, the government failed to ensure social justice for backward, oppressed, marginalized and neglected communities. If the present government continues the same pattern of injustice over the next two years, the BJP will be compelled to launch statewide protests and take the fight to the streets, he warned.

Invoking the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Talwar said the Constitution envisages equitable participation of backward and marginalized communities in governance and economic resources. He accused the Congress of betraying these constitutional ideals and denying deserving communities their rightful share in power and opportunities.

He further said regional imbalance continues to plague Karnataka and demanded the full implementation of the Prof. Govind Rao Committee report to accelerate the development of North Karnataka. He also urged the government to implement in full the recommendations of the committee headed by Madhusudan Naik on the educational and social status of backward communities.

Talwar demanded that the government immediately expedite key irrigation projects such as Mekedatu and Mahadayi. He also urged the government to ensure the uninterrupted supply of fertilizers and quality seeds, alleging that any artificial shortage would push already distressed farmers into deeper crisis.

Expressing concern over the weak monsoon, he said Karnataka is staring at drought-like conditions, with reservoir levels falling sharply and a potential drinking water crisis looming in the coming months. He accused the government of remaining indifferent to the hardships faced by farmers despite the worsening situation.

Referring to the proposed Bidadi Township project, Talwar alleged that farmers’ lands are being acquired without their consent or confidence being taken into account. He demanded that the government protect farmers’ rights instead of imposing projects against their will.

“If this government truly cares for the people, it must immediately address these pressing issues. Failing that, the BJP will launch an intensified statewide agitation against the Congress government,” Raghavendra Talwar warned.

MTR launches Sambar Anthem celebrating Karnataka’s culinary heritage

Bengaluru, July 4: MTR Foods has joined hands with renowned musician Vasu Dixit to launch the Sambar Anthem, a musical tribute celebrating Karnataka’s enduring love for sambar and its place in the state’s cultural identity. The anthem was unveiled during a live performance by Vasu Dixit in Bengaluru and is inspired by the memories, traditions and emotions associated with the iconic dish.

More than just a staple on the dining table, sambar has been an integral part of Karnataka’s food culture for generations. Whether paired with idli and dosa for breakfast or served with rice during family meals and festive occasions, every household has its own unique recipe and cherished memories. The anthem captures these shared experiences, reflecting the warmth and nostalgia that make sambar special across the state.

As part of the campaign, MTR invited consumers to share personal stories and memories linked to sambar. Drawing from these real-life experiences, Vasu Dixit composed an original song that celebrates the emotional connection people have with the beloved dish.

Speaking at the launch, MTR Foods CEO Sunay Bhasin said the initiative reflects the brand’s long-standing commitment to preserving Karnataka’s authentic culinary traditions. He added that Vasu Dixit’s deep cultural roots and storytelling through music made him the ideal collaborator for the project.

Vasu Dixit said the anthem was inspired not only by sambar itself but also by the conversations, memories and emotions surrounding it. He expressed hope that listeners would relate to the song and find a reflection of their own homes and family traditions.

The Sambar Anthem will be released on MTR’s official digital platforms and Spotify on July 8.

Nambiar Builders to Invest ₹1,900 Crore in District 25 Phase III on Sarjapur Road

Bengaluru, July 3: Nambiar Builders has announced an investment of ₹1,900 crore for the third phase of its integrated luxury township, District 25, located on the Chandapura–Dommasandra Road off Sarjapur Road in Bengaluru. The company said the latest phase follows strong demand for the first two phases, where more than 1,600 homes have already been sold, generating an estimated sales value of ₹3,200 crore.

Spread across 11 acres within the approved 63-acre township, District 25 Phase III will feature 1,202 premium apartments across eight residential towers. The project offers 2, 3, 4 and 4.5 BHK homes ranging from 1,250 sq. ft. to 2,980 sq. ft., with prices starting at ₹1.62 crore. Around 85% of the project area has been earmarked as open space, while the towers are designed with generous spacing to enhance privacy, natural light and ventilation.

According to the developer, nearly 90% of buyers in the first two phases purchased homes for self-occupation, reflecting strong end-user demand. Every apartment in the new phase has been planned as a corner unit without common walls, with only four residences on each floor. The homes also incorporate design refinements based on customer feedback, including larger rooms, wider balconies, improved kitchen layouts, walk-in wardrobes in larger configurations and dedicated study spaces in select units.

A major highlight of Phase III is the introduction of a 20-acre-plus Sports District alongside the 2.5 lakh sq. ft. Club SOHO. The township will include a FIFA-size football ground, athletics track, tennis, badminton, basketball, squash and pickleball courts, beach volleyball, cricket facilities, swimming pools, landscaped celebration spaces, children’s play areas and dedicated zones for senior citizens and pets.

Statewide Education Awareness Campaign on Digital Reforms Launched in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, July 3: Easy Access Services, in association with the e-Governance Federation of India, formally launched its Karnataka-wide Education Awareness Campaign with a state-level press conference at the Bangalore Press Club on Friday.

The initiative aims to create greater public awareness about key education reforms and digital initiatives of the Government of India, ensuring that students, parents, teachers and educational institutions are well-informed about the opportunities available under the evolving education ecosystem.

During the programme, speakers highlighted the significance of the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR), Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), One Nation One Student ID, the National Education Policy (NEP), digital academic records, student credit transfer, academic mobility and technology-enabled educational governance. They stressed that wider awareness of these initiatives would help improve access to quality education, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

Authorised spokespersons Raju R, Pothirajan Ramaiah, Arunai Jeevanandan and Somen Das addressed the gathering, explaining the objectives and practical benefits of the reforms. They emphasised the need for coordinated efforts by educational institutions, government agencies, civil society organisations and the media to ensure that accurate information reaches every district of Karnataka.

The organisers announced that the awareness campaign will now be taken across the state through educational seminars, institutional outreach programmes, stakeholder interactions and community awareness initiatives.
