Bengaluru, April 29, 2026: Apollo Hospitals has expanded its dedicated geriatric care initiative, Seniors First, across multiple centres in the city, signalling a more structured push toward integrated elder care. After its initial launch at the Bannerghatta Road facility, the programme will now be available at units in Jayanagar, Sheshadripuram and Sarjapur, widening access for senior citizens.
The expansion coincides with the completion of one year of the programme at Bannerghatta Road, where it has helped shift the focus from episodic treatment to continuous, patient-centric care for the elderly.
With India’s ageing population rising steadily, healthcare providers are increasingly grappling with the complex needs of seniors, many of whom live with multiple chronic conditions and require ongoing medical attention. Fragmented care systems—often lacking coordination between hospital treatment, home care and follow-up—continue to impact outcomes and place added pressure on families and caregivers.
Against this backdrop, Seniors First has been positioned as a multidisciplinary model that integrates preventive care, wellness monitoring and post-treatment recovery into a single framework. Drawing on Apollo’s clinical experience, the programme combines personalised care plans, continuous monitoring and smoother transitions from hospital to home.
Dr Steve Paul, a geriatric specialist, said the approach aims to move beyond reactive treatment. “The focus is on anticipating risks, minimising complications and enabling structured recovery, so that seniors can maintain independence and quality of life for longer,” he said.
Akshay Oleti, regional CEO for Karnataka at Apollo Hospitals, said the initiative is designed to ensure continuity of care beyond hospital discharge. “Care does not stop at treatment. It extends into recovery and long-term wellness, which ultimately leads to better outcomes and reduces the burden on families,” he said.
The programme covers a broad spectrum of services, including preventive health assessments, chronic disease management and rehabilitation support. It caters to seniors recovering from orthopaedic procedures such as knee and hip replacements, cardiac interventions like bypass surgery and angioplasty, as well as neurological and oncology treatments.
A key aspect of the initiative is its emphasis on coordinated care outside hospital settings. By leveraging Apollo’s wider ecosystem—spanning home healthcare, diagnostics, pharmacy and digital platforms—the programme ensures continuity at every stage. Additional support includes dedicated helplines, priority consultations, concierge services and emergency coordination.
By addressing gaps such as limited home-based support and the absence of structured recovery pathways, Apollo Hospitals aims to set a new benchmark in geriatric care delivery. The expanded rollout, the hospital group said, is part of its broader effort to help senior citizens lead healthier, more independent lives.
