University of Liverpool Breaks Ground for Bengaluru Campus, Strengthening India–UK Education Ties

Bengaluru, December 15, 2025:
The University of Liverpool on Monday marked a key milestone in its India expansion with a ground-breaking ceremony for its upcoming Bengaluru campus at Alembic City, reinforcing growing India–UK collaboration in higher education and research.

The event was attended by senior leadership from the University of Liverpool, UK government representatives, academic partners and industry leaders, reflecting the university’s focus on building a future-ready education ecosystem aligned with India’s talent and innovation needs.

Among the prominent guests was Chandru Iyer, Deputy British High Commissioner to Karnataka and Kerala, who had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the university at its launch event in May this year. Students from The School of Raya, Bengaluru, added a cultural dimension to the ceremony with a special performance.

The Bengaluru campus, scheduled to begin academic operations in 2026, will be designed as a next-generation learning and research hub combining global academic standards with India’s higher education ambitions. The campus will feature smart classrooms, advanced laboratories, research and innovation spaces, collaboration hubs and access to Bloomberg terminals, creating an integrated environment for academic learning and industry engagement.

Professor Tim Jones, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, said Karnataka’s reputation as a knowledge and technology hub made Bengaluru an ideal location for the university’s India campus. He added that the ground-breaking marked the first step towards creating a world-class learning environment for future students.

Campus architect Ram Joshi said the design draws inspiration from Liverpool’s maritime heritage and Bengaluru’s intellectual energy, transforming the former glass factory site into a space where industry evolves into knowledge.

A member of the prestigious Russell Group, the University of Liverpool will offer UK-accredited degree programmes in Computer Science, Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Biomedical Sciences and Game Design. The Game Design programme, a first for UK universities in India, will focus on coding, creativity and critical theory to prepare students for the global gaming and interactive media industry.

The University of Liverpool, ranked among the top 150 universities globally in the QS World University Rankings, received approval from the Union Ministry of Education in May 2025 under the UGC’s 2023 regulations, in line with the National Education Policy 2020. Applications for the 2026 academic year are now open.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ನವೆಂಬರ್,13ರ ಬೆಳಗಿನಜಾವ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಗೊರಗುಂಟೆಪಾಳ್ಯದಿಂದ ಆರಂಭವಾದ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಯಾತ್ರೆ, ದೇಶದ ವಿವಿಧ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ 11 ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಹಾಗೂ 14 ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠಗಳ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದು 23 ದಿನಗಳ ನಂತರ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.

ಸಂದೀಪ್ (ಚಿಕ್ಕಲಸಂದ್ರ, ಎಜಿಎಸ್ ಲೇಔಟ್) ಮತ್ತು ಗುರುಪ್ರಸಾದ್ (ನಾಗರಬಾವಿ) ಅವರು, 35 ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹಳೆಯದಾದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲೇ ತಯಾರಾದ ‘ಎಜ್ಡಿ ರೋಡ್ ಕಿಂಗ್’ ದ್ವಿಚಕ್ರ ವಾಹನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಒಟ್ಟು ಸುಮಾರು 8,344 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದ ಈ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಭಕ್ತಿ, ಸಹನಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಸ್ತಿನ ಚಾಲನೆಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಲಾಪುರ ಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ, ಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿ ಪರ್ವತಶ್ರೇಣಿಯ ಭೀಮಾಶಂಕರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ, ಔರಂಗಾಬಾದ್ ಸಮೀಪದ ಗ್ರಿಷ್ಣೇಶ್ವರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಹಾಗೂ ಭದ್ರ ಮಾರುತಿ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಮಂದಿರಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ನಾಸಿಕಿನ ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಭ್ರಾಮರಿ ಭದ್ರಕಾಳಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ–ವಿಷ್ಣು–ಮಹೇಶ್ವರರನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುವ ಏಕೈಕ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗವಾದ ತ್ರಿಯಂಬಕೇಶ್ವರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದರು.

ಗುಜರಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮನಾಥ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಭಾಸ್ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ, ದ್ವಾರಕಾದ ನಾಗೇಶ್ವರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಹಾಗೂ ದ್ವಾರಕಾಧೀಶ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣ ಮಂದಿರ ದರ್ಶನ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಹಂತವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಉಜ್ಜೈನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಯಂಪ್ರಕಟಿತ ಮಹಾಕಾಳೇಶ್ವರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ, ಗಡ್ಕಲಿಕಾ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ, ಹರಿಸಿದ್ದಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ ಮತ್ತು ಓಂಕಾರೇಶ್ವರ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಉತ್ತರಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವಾನಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ ಮತ್ತು ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಧಾರಾ, ಪ್ರಯಾಗರಾಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಲೋಪಿದೇವಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಡೇಹನುಮಾನ್‌ಜಿ ಮಂದಿರ, ವಾರಾಣಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲಭೈರವ್ ಮಂದಿರ, ಕಾಶಿ ವಿಶ್ವನಾಥ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಕಟ ವಿಮೋಚನ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಮಂದಿರ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದರು.

ಬಿಹಾರದ ಗಯಾದ ಸರ್ವಮಂಗಳಾ ದೇವಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಷ್ಣುಪಾದ ಮಂದಿರ, ಜಾರ್ಖಂಡಿನ ದೇವಘರ್‌ನ ವೈದ್ಯನಾಥ (ಭೈದ್ಯನಾಥ) ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ, ಮಾ ಜೈ ದುರ್ಗಾ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ, ಡುಮ್ಕಾದ ಬಾಬಾ ಬಾಸುಕಿನಾಥ ಧಾಮ್ ದರ್ಶನಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪೂರ್ವ ಭಾರತದ ಯಾತ್ರೆ ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಯಿತು.

ಒಡಿಶಾದ ಪುರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಗನ್ನಾಥ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಹಾಗೂ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಿಮಲಾ (ವಿಮಲಾ) ದೇವಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ, ಗಂಜಾಂ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ತಾರಾ ತಾರಿಣಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಶ್ರೀಶೈಲಂನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಾಮರಾಂಭ ದೇವಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ, ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಕಾಂಚೀಪುರಂನ ಕಾಂಚಿ ಕಾಮಾಕ್ಷಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠ, ರಾಮೇಶ್ವರದಲ್ಲಿನ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮನಾಥ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ ದರ್ಶನಗಳ ನಂತರ, ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವರಾಜ್ಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಶ್ರೀ ಚಾಮುಂಡೇಶ್ವರಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾಯಿಯ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದು ಯಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಕ್ತಾಯಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.

ದೇಶದ ಉದ್ದಗಲಕ್ಕೂ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಿದ ಈ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಯಾತ್ರೆ, ಹಳೆಯದಾದರೂ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತವಾದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ನಿರ್ಮಿತ ದ್ವಿಚಕ್ರ ವಾಹನಗಳ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಭಕ್ತಿಯ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸಿದೆ.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾಯಕಿಯರ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ಸಂಘದ ನೂತನ ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಮಾಮಣಿ ಕೆ.ಎಲ್ (ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು) ಅವರು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿ, ಈ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯುತಿರುವುದು ಸಂಘದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಿಂದೆ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಾಗಿಯೂ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದ ಉಮಾಮಣಿ, ಸಂಘಟನೆಗೆ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದಿಂದ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ನಿಷ್ಠೆ, ಹೋರಾಟ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಘಟನಾ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳಿಂದ ಏಕಮತದಿಂದ ಆಯ್ಕೆಗೊಂಡರು.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸ್ಕೌಟ್ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಅನೇಕ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾಯಕಿಯರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಸಂಘಟನೆಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡುವ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ನಿರ್ಧಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು.

ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿ. ಪ್ರೇಮಾ (ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ) ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊಸ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ –

ನಿರ್ಮಲಾ ಹರಿಹರ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ,

ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷಿ (ಮಂಗಳೂರು) ಖಜಾಂಚಿ,

ಪ್ರೇಮಾ (ಚನ್ನಪಟ್ಟಣ) ಸಹ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ


ಎಂಬ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನೂತನ ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದರು.

ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯುತಿರುವ ಉಮಾಮಣಿ ಕೆ.ಎಲ್ ಅವರು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಪರಿಹಾರ, ವೇತನ ಭದ್ರತೆ, ಸೇವಾ ನಿಯಮಾವಳಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಸರ್ಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ರಚನಾತ್ಮಕ ಮಾತುಕತೆಗಳನ್ನು ವೇಗಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಬದ್ಧರಾಗಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. “ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಬಲವಾಗಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಮುಂದಿಡುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೊದಲ ಆದ್ಯತೆ,” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾದ ನಿರ್ಣಯದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಮತ್ತು ತಾಲೂಕು ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ವಿಸ್ತೃತ ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದು, ಸಂಘಟನೆ ಬಲವರ್ಧನೆಗೆ ಸಮಗ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸಂಘದ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಉಮಾಮಣಿ ಕೆ.ಎಲ್ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಘಟನೆ ರಾಜ್ಯಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಸಂಘಟಿತವಾಗಿ, ಹೋರಾಟಪರವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪೋಷಣಾ ಸೇವೆಗಳು, ಮಹಿಳಾ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮುದಾಯಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪಾತ್ರ ಬಲಪಡಿಸಲು ಇದು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.

ಸಭೆಯ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಉಳಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಮತ್ತು ತಾಲೂಕು ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಸಹ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಪದಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವರು. ಸಂಘವು ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರ ಹಿತಚಿಂತನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಮಹಿಳಾ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಮುದಾಯಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ.

NMIMS Hyderabad Hosts ‘Step Up For Cancer’ Walk to Promote Early Detection and Preventive Healthcare

Against the backdrop of India’s rapidly rising cancer burden, SVKM’s NMIMS Hyderabad mobilised its student community, faculty and staff for the ‘Step Up For Cancer Walkathon 2025’, an awareness initiative led by the School of Pharmacy and Technology Management (SPTM) with the support of Udaan and XLR8.

The initiative comes at a critical time. As per the National Cancer Registry Programme of the ICMR, the country registered over 14.6 lakh cancer cases in 2022, and one in every nine Indians is now at risk. With cases expected to increase by another 12–13 per cent by 2025, health experts continue to stress the need for widespread awareness and early diagnosis.

Walkathon Highlights Need for Early Awareness

Participants assembled at the NMIMS Hyderabad campus with a common purpose—to advocate for preventive healthcare. The 5-km walk along SEZ Road saw the participation of nearly 60 students, faculty members, volunteers and staff.

Before the walk began, an awareness session was conducted to brief attendees on early symptoms, screening methods and the importance of prompt medical evaluation. Speakers emphasised that self-examination, routine check-ups and attention to bodily changes can significantly improve the chances of early detection. Each participant was handed a purple ribbon to mark solidarity with cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment.

Leaders Emphasise Community Responsibility

Speaking about the impact of the initiative, Dr. Ashwini Deshpande, Deputy Director and Associate Dean, SPTM, said the walkathon reaffirmed NMIMS Hyderabad’s dedication to health education, social responsibility and community engagement.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Suman Naredla, Director, NMIMS Hyderabad, noted that the event helped strengthen public understanding of preventive healthcare. “Awareness, vigilance and timely check-ups can save lives. The enthusiasm shown by our students motivates us to organise more such programmes,” he said.

Smooth Conduct and Closing Acknowledgements

The event was supported by comprehensive on-ground arrangements, including security personnel, first-aid facilities and hydration stations. Individuals with pre-existing medical conditions were advised against participating to ensure safety.

The walk concluded with a brief closing interaction during which winners were recognised, and volunteers, faculty coordinators and support teams were appreciated for their efforts in making the event a success.
